On what basis can you post that? There are a couple of regular financial advisers, who state this in their signature.
Well I'm certainly not, any of the above, I'm a hard working saver as most of us are here. I'm an IT director, as you'll see from the majority of my posts on the Tech forum where I post the most.
If there are indeed propagandists here, there are more than outnumbered by the trolls and ill-educated and misinformed, which seem to appear at every turn.
I post fact and opinion in discussions - this morning to counter a raft of lies and misinformation propagating on one thread.
There are some fantastically knowledgeable and sensible posters here, but of late lots of alarmist and misinformed people have joined.
No newbies seem to be capable of reading the FAQs the rules, and nearly always start a new thread rather than adding to an existing one on the subject, which is why there are many many Icesave and KE threads on the front page.
No one is stifling debate or otherwise, but what people object to is misinformation and unsubstantiated hype, especially in such a volatile time.
Agree with a lot of what you say, but must take issue with a couple of points. Suspecting that a significant number of posters may have vested interests has to speculative. It is a well-established feature of internet forums that not everyone will be what they appear -- it's part of the nature of the beast, as is the trolling, attention seeking etc. In my experience this is one of the most reasonable and civilised around (has anyone ever used a football forum ?!). Yes there are a number of people who appear to be ignorant, ill-informed etc. But most of them are probably looking for some guidance and reassurance from those who know and understand a bit more. That's what an information exchange forum is all about. Those of us fortunate enough by virtue of education, present or previous career, experience etc to have some degree of understanding of the situation and especially the potential pitfalls must try to retain a degree of patience.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

George I am with you on that really too.
People who approach with concerns if they aren't in the know, will get good advice and pointers to threads, items to read, by most of us, but increasingly people arrive and post to the effect "we are all doomed", "everyone will lose their savings", just two examples on threads I've contributed to this morning.
The only issue I have is with aggressive posters, who insist on constantly posting mis-information (to perhaps some gain?), ignoring the facts posted by people who do know them, becoming rude etc. And this is most definitely happening here.
Be nice to restore MSE back to the original calm and informed state it was in a few months ago!0 -
Amen to thatLiquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0

You're an obvious propagandist!
Saver or not, you're a fraud, first and foremost!I'm a hard working saver as most of us are here.
Hehehe! Let's just examine your posting history.I post fact and opinion in discussions - this morning to counter a raft of lies and misinformation propagating on one thread.
Essentially everything you post is either an outright lie or baseless supposition!
The following message is yours.. You posted it on 2nd October.Iceland is in no more crisis than the UK, US or many other countries, stop posting this scaremongering rubbish.
Now what sort of disgusting crook would encourage people to plough their cash into Iceland given the scale of the crisis?
I think you should formally apologise to all those who lost money because of your despicable propaganda.
Furthermore, it's high time you unveiled yourself.
Let us learn your true background and identity "isofa"..........
Come on! Exactly WHO are you?!"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

I admit to being in the industry, but I do not represent any company and any interest because the company I work for deals with products that are outside the range of almost all of the posters here.
I do not like Isofa's postings. I find him patronising, and anti-free speech, and in my opinion he dispenses advice of a Poor Dad nature. In the field of investment, 99 per cent of everything is garbage. Why? Because we have "gearing". - Robert Beckman0 -

Justifiably worried would be more appropriate wouldn't you say?

That's a sweeping generalisation, it is patronising and not true.

I have to say that IMO you have been a bit rude about a number of genuinely concerned people on here but at least you are still posting which is more than can be said for the likes of "fatpig", "nilrem", "napoleon" et. al. who seem to have gone rather quiet since the Icesave fiasco.
Does anyone want to brand those with savings in Icesave as "lemmings" now?0
