In Southampton, the social enterprise 'Sector' has just opened a shop called 'Retail Therapy,' selling new items made by people facing problems like yours. The details are not on their website yet but you could contact them if you are in this area. www.sectorservices.co.uk
  • Hi,

i am part of a young enterprise company and we are selling hand made jewellery for the charity i-Hug. Women in uganda make the jewellery as their jobs and then we sell it in the uk. All of the money goes back to these women and they use it improve their lives and those of their children.

All money raised is appreciated by the women and we are trying to organise as many fundraisers as possible for them. As our main product that we sell for the charity is jewellery we are already advertising hand made jewellery. Maybe we could sell yours too and give the profits to the women in Uganda?

Let me know what you think!

L'Etoile de Martin is a child cancer charity that makes a lot of its money from selling handmade gifts and jewellery.

It's French-based, but it mostly funds research, which obviously helps all children, everywhere.

The wife of a friend of mine is heavily involved (their son is in remission from cancer, having been treated alongside Martin) .

Yes this is an old thread but if anyone is interested I'm sure that some of the items could be sent directly to children and teenagers on this site: https://www.postpals.co.uk.
  • That is a very kind gesture you are making in donating your handmade jewelry! I think that it would be wonderful if you donated your pieces to a women's battery center. Often those women do not feel beautiful or loved, and what is better than jewelry to make a woman feel those things! If any of those women would like to sell them after the donation, that would clearly be a possibility, but I think many of them would really appreciate a donation like this.
