I want to donate handmade jewellery to charity - help!

Hello
I have been making handmade jewellery, mainly bracelets for a while using a variety of techniques such as micro macrame, bead weaving etc. But there is a limit to how many bracelets a girl needs and I have no-one to give them to!
Im not really interested in selling them or anything like that as I suffer from depression and dont really want the stress and hassle. So what I would really like to do is to find a charity that would like the jewellery to sell for their own profit, so I could carry on making jewellery, they would make money and we would both be happy!
I have contacted a local hospice but I havnt heard back from them yet. Has anyone got any ideas of charities that may like a regular supply of jewellery to sell? They are fairly cheap to make so I could make quite a large amount of them if needed! Ebay for charity etc is out as I dont want to be doing the selling.
All suggestions welcomed!

The problem with giving them to a charity to sell is the same as the problem which you have in that someone has got to advertise the bracelets, sell, them, take the money, etc. Why not donate them to a charity shop where they are already set up to sell.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

How about a local primary school, Nursery or S.E.N school. Especially in the run up to Christmas for their fete's . I know our parents would love handmade jewellry and it is great to have things that children can afford to buy for christmas, mothers day and birthdays.
Good Luck ! I'm sure someone will be delighted with your generous offer.:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.

Thanks to all posters xxxx0 -
What a lovely idea, I would agree that it might be easier to take them into a charity shop where they are already set up to sell things, they always seem to have things like that near the till. Let us know how you get on. PPLBM-29/08/07

Some local charities would be thrilled to have handmade jewellry to give to clients as Christmas presents, or at other times of year.
Womens Aid, for example.
If you're in Bristol, do send me a PM ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thanks all of you for replying, there are definitely some good suggestions to think about, especially as the hospice havnt got back to me yet.
If there was a way I could get in touch with local charity shops without having to phone or go in person then I would be onto them like a shot, but I have difficulty with things like that and individual charity shops dont usually have separate email addresses available to the public.
If anyone else has any ideas I would be glad to hear them!0 -
Hi Lauranurse, I'd suggest that if they are small and lightweight, maybe you could either send them to a charity shop by post, or you could pop them through the letterbox yourself when the store is closed. You might also want to put in a note saying that you would be happy to make more, and include your address so that they could write back to you. I totally understand you not wanting to phone, or go into a shop by yourself, so hope this suggestion might helpskint but in luv :kisses2:0

If you email the charity explaining things to them they could give you the email for someone in the shop like the manager.0

We would love them either to fundraise with please or to send to seriously ill children. If you go to www.postpals.co.uk you could choose which child you think would like what and pop it in the post to them and then know that you have brought a smile to a child who is having a difficult timeBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card
Rehome an unwanted prize or gift with a seriously ill child through Postpals.co.uk0 -
Vikki-louise, I had never heard of postpals, just been shedding a few tears looking at the website. I will definitely be writing some letters and sending some gifts!
If you think you could also use a load of bracelets for fundraising send me a pm!0
