And if he B]sadabbot[/B really is an OAP, he must have the oldest grandfather in the world, as he recently said:

I was talking to my grandfather and he said that after the crash of 1929, house prices fell for thirty years.

"Domestic deposits are fully guaranteed, as declared by the government. Landsbankis domestic branches, call centers, cash machines and internet operations will be open for business as usual. The objective of the IFSAs action is to guarantee a functioning domestic banking system."

    Nice for the locals, then...

I withdrew 30k on Sunday night from icesave. I checked my icesave account yesterday and it looks like it has left my account as there is only £1 in there.

I hope it clears in my bank account tomorrow, but as it is in transit between accounts I am wondering if icesave can cancel the transaction or recall the money?

Looks like another 'nationalisation' like NR, but when will the normal service be resumed then?

I have some funds there just about to finish the fixed term laster this week, was going to withdraw it all to a safer place. Not sure it will be allowed to happen now. Damn!

Any chance of the British Govt pulling it's finger out of it's ars* & actually making a statement to reassure UK investors in Icesave?

The Icelandic Govt are having a laugh here IMO.

Firstly they issue emergency legislation (whilst adding that DOMESTIC) deposits are covered. Then they takeover IceSave & prevent any UK investor withdrawing.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong but they appear to be looking after their own interests & I don't see any sign yet that they care about ours.

Our idiot Government should be all over this situation. Instead we don't hear a chirp out of them.
