It has just been anniounced. Where are the other countless threads ?

Take a look on the front page and you'll see about 20 different threads relating to Icesave - most of which mention the fact they've stopped withdrawals.

Maybe you think it justified it's own thread, but personally I think it's just going to cause a lot of unnecessary panic.

They have done this to stop systems crashing and to stem the flow of cash out, if the bank keeps cash, it'll have more of a chance, if everyone runs on the bank and withdraws far more people and accounts will be at risk.

This was the first thing I checked when I got up today. Have to say, it's left me with mixed feelings.

I certainly didn't want to be the last person left with money in icesave, so was getting ready to panic withdraw if that seemed to be the only option. If we're all stopped from withdrawing then it should actually be a good thing - stopping us all undermining the bank.

After the BBCs panic mongering this morning I don't suppose they were left with much of a choice. Let's all just hope that they can use this time to sort things out.

I am really scared as every penny we have is in this bank. We are OAPs and we are terrified.

Easy to say, tough to do. Think it's going to be another bad day for the markets. Sentiment is really going to be knocked.
