I'm sure that people will be very reassured by the prospect that they might have to chase their money not only to Iceland but also all around the North Sea and the Baltic.

Ah, fair enough - got the two mixed up there, sorry! :rotfl:Still, at least it goes to show that some forum members can actually put that point of view across in a civilised manner without resorting to childish insults. Thankyou, and I apologise to you for confusing the two.

In that case, replace KE for Icesave ;)

Presumably you missed all the earlier threads by isofa, which pointed this aount imediately when you first posted telling isofa he was #26 well above your other posts, followed up by kingl, blizeH, me and then isofa again explaining in detail why you were wrong, pointing you to the links, to which you totally ignored and then asked him afterwards to post evidence.

You continued to post this mis-information for pages, only finally admitting you were wrong now.

half of your posts haven't at all being civalised, you had a go at me earlier for posting an opinion.

We are ALL worried - but being calm and reading and digesting the facts, is crucial, posting nonsense and ignoring those with more knowledge than you, shows a stunning lack of judgement.

If the regular posters on this board had "got real" and allowed a real discussion to develop then many people would not be in the mess they are in. They would have made a more informed decision to either leave their money in an icelandic bank or withdraw it in a considered maner. The continous mantra that "all is well - go away nasty doom mongers" has done no one any favours IMHO:rolleyes:

And posting misinformation about protection and the banking system has done people favours?

    Good grief.

In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
  • I have 'enjoyed' reading this thread, and here is my tuppence worth.

The rational of 'normal' times is out the window at the moment. I don't think any of us know what will happen next, if the compensation schemes will actually work, if it came to it (Will be run by civil servants after all)

What should be clear is that no bank operates on money alone, as there is no bank anywhere that has the cash at hand to satisfy a full drawdown by all of its customers, banks operate therefore on TRUST and FAITH.

For retail banks like NR us individuals CAN cause a catastophic run, but for most banks (eg RBS) it is the wholesale markets that are currently causing problems, and the monies being withdrawn their make our savings look like a 2p piece in the crease of the sofa.

IMHO Robert Pestons sensationalist journalism is the wrong style in the current climate, Evan Davies would be a safer bet in reporting FACTS rather than speculation and Pestons gloating of 'breaking news'

Until European governments act together and quickly to draw a line in the sand that gives a clear message to speculators that they will get burnt the current situation will continue

The media tend to overplay everything these days. If we had taken all their panic-mongering on board, we would have expected by now to be dead from AIDS, CJD, SARS, bird flu, or nuclear terrorism, to be frozen by southerly diversion of the Gulf Stream, to be blown to pieces by hurricanes or tornadoes, to be flooded by tsunamis, to see the planet thrown into the equivalent of a nuclear winter caused by the explosion of the Yellowstone National Park -- the list goes on and on, becoming ever more bizarre.

There is an immaturity about most things these days, not least in the media. They deliberatety or unwittingly lack the judgment as to how to pitch things about right. One might expect this from the Currant Bun. But we should not expect it from the BBC ......... oh I don't know though.
No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

Actually, I made one post where I got KE mixed up with Icesave. I don't believe I stated anything as 'fact' in any other post. Get your facts straight, please.
