Considering you applied for cards 'out of curiousity' and because you 'liked the design' I would suggest sticking to debit cards.

That would be my main solution.

Thanks for the solution, next please!

May be out of curiosity. I have never been accepted for a MINT or an M&S card in my life. I like MINT for mc2 design and M&S for accumulating points that I would actually use. All my Nectar etc. points never comes handy.

So I filled them to see where I stand and do I actually have a good rating or not.

Pointless, you do realise that the applications show up on your credit record & thus the more applications lenders can see on your account in a short space of time means that it might discourage them from accepting your application.

Like the previous poster said, if you're applying for credit cards purely for the design basis then strongly stick to debit cards. You should be applying for cards to use them wisely, not because its a fashion accessory in your wallet.

Use some common sense, as so far you don't seem to be using any & for someone whose a regional head for their employer, I expect a lot better.

My apologies, were you after a solution which offered poor advice but was more to your liking?

If so, I would suggest ringing the companies that turned you down and reapplying for credit with them again. Five applications in one week will cause you no problems whatsoever, so eight in two weeks is no real issue.

If you're looking for lots of credit for no particular reason other than the thrill of getting a more and more credit cards and a higher credit limit may I suggest companies such as Capital One, Vanquish and A&L who are happy to throw credit at people and watch them spend, spend, spend.

Also, if you like the kooky design of credit cards could I suggest the American Express Blue Card? It has a really pretty square in the middle that shimmers in the light.

    Hope this helps.

May be you can call it a desperation. I moved to UK in early 2005 as a student with 0 credit history. Completed my course by mid 06 and started working. I only had a Natwest Student card (£400 limit) and Aqua Card (£250) as no one else was accepting my application.

It was end 2006 that I started getting accepted for MBNA (£2,000) and Barclaycard (£450). Mid 07 I got Amazon card with (£4,000) and that is it. There are times when I want to spend and can't do it as one single card don't have enough limit that I would like. So after an year I apply for 3-4 cards and then get idle till the next year, so that I still have some living limits available on my cards incase of a big spending needs.

I think the desperation and a factor of getting such limits is also my age as I am only 26 at the moment.

Amex Blue Card is definitely on my list :p (just kidding)

I only want a solution that can take me out from the mess I have gotten into. Be it closer to my liking or not.

As far as calling the companies and reapplying. I think I would need to wait another 10 months or so at the new address before doing that else I am definitely going to be rejected simply for a fact that I have recently moved in.

Why do you need lots of credit? You stated that your Amazon card has a £4,000 limit. If you want to buy anything more expensive than this you either need a loan or to look at actually whether you can afford the item. So stop applying for credit, which is the only solution to the 'mess you have gotten in to'.

I do a lot of e-Buying and online shopping from outside and sell them in UK. With good credit card limits, I get to buy the stuff easily rather than getting into the hassle of Wiring the money and paying the cash upfront. I get 56 days of credit + I usually sell my item within that period and my credit cards in full when the statement comes.
