Transfering ISA from Icesave to Natwest

Hi All,

Im hoping for some advice, I want to transfer my Cash ISA from Icesave to Natwest, they can now offer me a good rate and i want to split my savings a bit (you know the saying dont keep all your eggs in onr basket).

Anyway i filled out all the forms and Natwest called me today to ask for the Sort code and account number, i dont have these only my refrence number which Natwest say i cant transfer without that info.

So has anyone transferred and how did they do it.

If you make a search, there are a number of recent posts about this (within the last week or so).

Sort code there, althought it is quite an old thread.

Not sure about account number. Log in to their website if you can and get it off there?

When I transferred at my local Nat West Bank last week, I just put the ISA reference number on the form - the manager said that was OK and I wouldn't need a sort code. Don't know whether this helps - and in any case, due the situation with Icesave and the huge numbers of transfers Nat West are doing, I have my doubts whether this transfer will go through!

  • If I transfer the Icesave ISA to, say, NatWest, does this years allowance also transfer? I have £1800 left of the £3600 so would obviously like to continue paying into this once it has transfered.

I think you'll find you can't actually transfer your ISA at the moment as Icesave have frozen all transactions for the moment. There's a lot going on right now with talk of Russia lending money, Landsbanki becoming nationalised etc so it's best to sit tight and wait and see what happens.

    There's 2 sides to this...
    1. Getting our ISA money out of icesave, still "wrapped" in it's ISA status ...
    - and no-one knows about that yet

    2. Continuing paying into an ISA to get our full allowance for 2008/9.
    - can you open a new ISA mid-way into the year, having already paid into an ISA in THIS year, to conitnue paying, so long as the total does not go over the 3600 limit. ?

    No, you can't - see http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/leaflets/isa-factsheet.htm
For cash ISAs, an individual can invest up to £3,600 a year, and can only invest with one provider in any one tax year

    Sexy_fufu,

Did you manage to confirm the account number and sort code? Its probably best to check with icesave themselves to make sure. I would be interested to know myself.

Its odd, when I transfered to Icesave they didnt need any of that information, just the standard ISA Account number was fine from my existing providers and they didnt have sort codes or account numbers in the standard format.
