M and S sale sneak peak

  • The online sale had much more stuff in than my local M&S stores and it arrives beautiful, not at all creased with sale stickes over the labels so you can give it as presents.

Yeah, I am a 30D and a size 8 so it's almost impossible to find the pretty lingerie in store in the sale but never fails online.

    lucky so and so's!!!!!

ordered 6 things, but although i have an order number etc they still havent debited my account so its not looking good.

IF i do get them, my delivery date is 'estimated' between 29-31 october :(

    not looking good

I've just had an email to say one of my items is out of stock, which 'can happen because orders are filled on a first come first served basis' - thanks to the OP I could hardly have placed my order earlier, so I'm again at the mercy of the M&S gremlins. And the rest of the order is still showing as not despatched, with a delivery date of 18 to 22 October, so I'm not optimistic either. Will I never learn not to trust M&S sales?

I ordered lots of lingerie last Thursday, estimated delivery 14th October, still not despatched. Not looking good :(
  • went into store today and some idiot had mixed and matched the pj sets i.e jumbled them up so the bottoms did not match the top sizes. It was the only one left and the bottoms were my size. So i go and ask the assistant and ask if she can reduce the price as it is not a set. Thought that was a perfectly reasonable request but apparently they cannot do that and they have to in the assistants words "wait until they see there is a problem" excuse me dear there is a mistake and im pointing it out to you . I ask to see her duty manager to see if i can get some sanity with her no such luck she says they cant reduce them until next week correct me if im wrong peeps but if there is problem with something i.e a stain or mis matching items they mark them down accordingly in the first place whats the point in leaving it until next week when they have a sale on the spot? They were not busy at all in the store smacks me as cannot be bothered to do a little bit more work to help a customer in business you don't turn away a sale if you can secure it and the request is perfectly reasonable. .Sorry i needed to vent .
  • From what I can remember when I worked there a few years ago (and I worked in the food hall usually so I might not be completely correct on this). Any stock which is faulty, stained, part of a set missing usually has to be sent to the stockroom where they check it, they have new reduced price tickets printed out and put on the item stating the fault and that it is not returnable for the fault described. I presume things like that have to be authorised and logged in some paperwork before they sell it. I don't think anyone on the shopfloor would have the authorisation to reduce an item there and then. I presume its to stop any abuse of the system which could be done by shop assistants themselves giving lots of stuff to pals at reduced prices. They would also have to check the stock out to make sure it is defintely the last pair of Pjs like that, there might be a pair lurking on the fitting room rail for example.

All shops are different, I worked in lots of clothes shops where I had the authority to reduce a damaged item explaining it was non-returnable and marking the receipt to that effect and also marking the label incase they tried to bring it back without the receipt!!

I can understand your frustration, I'd be annoyed as well but things do get left on the shop floor in a mess and things have to be checked before reductions can be made.
  • Heads up, M&S has just reduced their sale prices on line, I still had some items left in my basket that I was umming and aahing about, and low and behold just had notification of price changes!! I imagine this will be same in store tomorrow morning then.
  • now saying Sale Ended ?????
  • I went into my local M&S store, well rather the one in Liverpool city centre and their attitude is appalling. Normally (as in non sale) they have no issue with you trying on underwear (over your own pair). I found some nice items which were a size different from my usual as my normal size was sold out. So I needed to try them. I was told that they never allow it and shouted at and humiliated in front of the entire lingerie fitting room queue. I asked the woman for her supervisor and she is aparently the department manager and she knows someone Rose the MD or something of the company as she went to dinner with him the other week and he says no. Random, irrelevant and probably untrue...really put me off shopping there. I still will though. Needs must and all that...

This happens so often that I swore last year I would never use them again. As you'll see from post #53 I weakened, with predictable results. I would definitely ask for a refund of the delivery charge.
