New Years Resolutions

  • Hello everyone,
I've only been reading this forum for the last couple of weeks but feel I want to join in now as it's made me feel so much more confident about our situation.
My New Year's resolution is simple - not to increase our debt (this includes not giving in to my DH when he says "We need so and so...." as he frequently does)!.
We've always had debt since moving in together 8 years ago! I've never looked on it lightly as such and we've never really been in trouble with it but I've found myself robbing Peter to pay Paul on many an occasion. We've always paid chunks off the credit card when we've been able to but, guess what, it's always built back up again. We've also done the consolidation thing which I now realise was a big mistake.
Never mind, you live and learn and I know I will be proud of cutting our debts once and for all.
With the help of this site I'll know I'm doing it right this time (I'd never heard of snowballing till a couple of weeks ago) and I've posted the figures in my signature so I can see it going down.
Thanks to all who post their valuable advice and their own experiences on here - here's to a financially more astute 2006!

Mine is to continue with everything I've learned from MSE since I found this site!

To continue to live within my means and save some dosh this year! :j

To lose half a stone :o

To stop biting my nails again! :o have grown them twice this year already but due to stress over debt etc have nibbled them again

To enjoy the free things in life a bit more and spend time with my family and appreciate them! ;)
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • i put my credit card debts on a 0% card and i want to get rid of that by the end of the year (when the interest free runs out).
at the end of next year i will have about a dozen payments to make on my car loan and apart from a student loan that goes back to when they were introduced- that will be it.
my main one will be to pay for everything for my holiday without incurring any debt on my cards, cancel my phone contract, and hopefully start saving again so i can buy a new computer for my xmas present to myself for next xmas.

and finish my novel before i go away
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

all your base are belong to us
