  • A new statement from the HM Treasury is now on the Icesave homepage. Also my CHAPS transaction from Monday night has just arrived back into my Icesave account, which is a relief in itself.
  • One thing that did concern me is that the statement from the Treasury said that compensation would be forthcoming if the bank was declared in default, and that they would expect that it soon would, however, thankfully, it looks like it now has:

Is there no end to it??!

Jon Snow (Ch4) just said that Councils have lost £Millions by investing in Icesave.

It kills the view of the muppets that we should have known better than to invest there, but I can see Council Tax going up

Some important points that haven't been mentioned in the 40+ pages of comments:
    snipped for brevity

What a wonderful piece which the trolls who revelled in the Icesavers dismay would be well advised to educate themselves with.
The Government have done the right thing by these genuine savers.

Thank you for laying it out better than anyone else.:T

The IceSave staff should likely find jobs with the FSCS - no doubt that's going to be a growth industry over the coming months.

Mortgage-free Glee! Hung up my suit! Xmas Saver!
Just to let anyone know, I & my husband arranged three transfers Monday night, one by Chaps & two by bacs. The money left the account on Tuesday and sat in Limbo.
We have today received the Chaps payment back along with the £30 fee, we haven't yet received the two bacs payment (which closed accounts, but were told they would bounce back & be re-instated) as they take longer to process.
It is reassuring to see some of the money come back into the accounts.
I know we haven't got the money but at least the accounts are being re-credit with funds we had in the first place.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
