just a cheap solution for condensation on windows is to put some bowls of salt down around the room this will soak up quite alot of moisture from the air, it keeps our caravan very dry through the winter months, and is not to exspensive,

We purchased a dehumidifier within the last 4 weeks from Argos, I can't tell you how pleased we are with it, not once have we had condensation on our windows, yes, we also have DG, if ever there was a gadget I'm happy with, it's the dehumidifier, only wish I purchased one years ago, btw, I purchased it solely for the bedroom.

Sorry, but I'm unable to post a link to the one I purchased, it was on special offer which has now finished, it was around £75.00 reduced to £45.00.

Hi what is the make of the Humidifier? Do you leave it on all night? And can you hear it when it is running?
  • i got some crystals that absorb moisture and collect water in a container-not big at all then you just throw water away and add new crystals about 6pound at woolworths also can buy refils quite cheaply.worth a try- hope this helps!

Also consider where the moisture is coming from and perhaps improving the ventilation.

We have also been suffering from condensation and I was considering buying a dehumidifier but it was bothering me that we needed this. I've checked out the bedroom with a damp meter and found an area of dampness which coincides with a downpipe from the guttering. I'm guessing this is the cause of the dampness, which in turn will be causing the condensation.

so as richardw says you might want to find the cause particularly if its something thats only just started happening.

My last one was an eBac and it lasted over a decade - only failing when the the switch which makes it turn off when the bucket is full failed. We spotted it a few days later by which time it had made a small pond in the corner of the room. :o

    Hi Legs :rotfl:

It's this one, when we purchased it from Argos, it was 1/2 price, yes, we leave it on all night although it's automatic so comes on and off, and yes, we can hear it running, but in the 4 weeks we've had it, we've got used to it, it has reduced the smell of dampness in our bedroom considerably

Oh, and even though we have double glazing, no more wet windows to wipe :T

Can somebody please help me understand why we are getting such bad condensation, I should have paid more attention in class. The windows are UPVC double glazed.

In our bedroom in the morning, when I draw the curtains back, the window had such bad condensation, you couldn't see outside and all the wallpaper above the window was damp to touch. Then there was a puddle on the windowsill, which as the day went on, got bigger and bigger. I have had a dehumidifier on in there all day but would love to know what is going on as I would imagine a dehumidifer is not very MSE.

Any advice/help very much appreciated :D
