ok, had a look at the site and you're right it does look like a military excercise - although i thought that when i bought anthea turners book - and kim and aggies - oh and another housekeeping book - i have always had good intentions but i find pigpen is easier to cope with - even her rath is a good kick up the rear end

I'm in a slight state of shock. I asked DS to take down the old CB radio aerial from the side of the garage just after lunch today (I tried to do it myself and failed - the screws and things were too tight). He mumbled and grumbled and muttered not now. I said well, as long as he could to it by the time it got dark, that would be lovely.

He finally went out about 4pm and started on it. It took him nearly 1.5 hours and involved lump hammers, chisels, saws, screw drivers and a lot of brute force and swearing.

But, he actually finished the job and used lateral thinking at the same time off and on. This may not seem like much to you ladies who have really handy DIY blokes about, but it means a lot to me. My DS is not renowned for his patience, nor his DIY skills!

I'm really pleased. Even though I had to put all the tools away afterwards.

Somehow I don't think I'll get much more done this weekend. My mattress topper is in the dryer as it was still damp when I took it off the line, I have one more load (towels) that also need finishing off in the dryer, and two loads of washing that didn't get done.

The kitchen surfaces will be finished tonight, and I'll probably hoover upstairs, but I think that's it. Not a very successful week.

I've realised that this week will probably be similar as I may be going down to Devon to see my grandfather tomorrow after work and coming back Tuesday, and I'm then out (for work) Wednesday and going to the theatre on Thursday evening. I'll be working from home on Friday, so might be able to catch up then (although I do have reflexology & a pedicure to fit in too ;) ). Still, hopefully my chimney, kitchen tiling and cold water tank will be sorted, and planning/dates agreed for the utility room. I just need to bribe someone to come over and help me sort out the garage... it's a bit spidery, so I'm not keen to do it myself, but need to get the DW, WM, TD and freezer in there soon.
