Not nationwide? Just been to Tesco Burnley; they've never had them and don't expect any.Ne illegitimi carbunculi tibi in facie sint0

The USB port is a great enhancement as you can plug in a Flash Drive/memory stick and the recorder will recognise and play or record MP3 WMA and JPG files.
A Brief list of features are:
DTS 5.1 Digital (coaxial or optical)
Dolby 5.1 Digital (Coaxial or optical)
Dolby 5.1 Analogue (6 connectors)
DVI input
USB Input
Progressive or Interlaced scan
JPEG picture view
S Video
RGB
YUV
CVBS
PAL/NTSC
2 Scarts
Record DVD+R, DVD+RW
DIVX
1, 2, 4, 6 Hour record
Plays DVD, DVD+and-R/RW, VCD, CD-DA, MPEG4(Divx), MP3, JPEG and Multi formats.
It even played a Video CD that I have with no menu that I have been unable to play on any DVD player other than a computer.
I think that once word gets around about the featuires of this machine it will sell quickly.
Cheers
PS
COMET are selling a 25 pack of RIDATA DVD+RW for £9.99 and they work with no problems on this machine.
I know its not mentioned but does it have component out? If so then I am buying one.Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.
Primum non noce!0 -
I saw this in my Local Tesco Extra Superstore. They have stacks of them. I was tempted, but box had very minimal info on it, so did not know about the DivX and component output - I need this to feed into my projector.
Its got everything I want (except possibly a TV Tuner!, or does it?).
Looks like I'll have to make another visit and pick one up.
Anyone know if there any reviews of this, I wanna make sure its got good quality picture and sound output.
and is that DV input (from a Digital camcorder?)
Oh one more thing, will it also play Xvid?0 -

Thanks dc. I think the only thing the sumvision has over the Technika, is the TV Tuner (and possibly Xvid).
But I think the Technika has better input output options i.e. Component RGB, 6 channel output as well as digital, both co-axe and optical, DV-in etc.0 -
I went to Tesco's earlier, they were out of stock for the Technika unit. I saw the manual as there was display unit available, it's got video in but it says it only records on DVD+R. Is that correct. And does it play all Divx formats or only just the proper coded ones?0

The owner of Area 450 is actually UK based and is me

However, I now do stuff for a band and thus something had to give, hence the reason I had to pull the site. It had pretty much reached the end of the road.
Personal recommendation - avoid the Aldi DVD recorder like the plague. Sampo really are not very good at making DVD recorders and their earlier models have been plagued with all sorts of very basic and silly faults.
Far better to spend a bit more on a recognised brand name such as Panasonic, Sony or Pioneer. But not Philips - their stuff is worse than Sampo's....None of the Taiwanese manufacturers have really got it right, to be honest, and they rely too much on DVD+R/+RW (due to subsidies being paid to them by Philips - FACT)0 -
I just bought the Tesco Technika, one problem I'm getting is, I've connected it through scart to a normal Sony TV and when playing Dolby Digital DVD's, I'm not getting full sound output. I.e. it seems to only be playing some channels - why should I need to connect this to a surround sound system? My old DVD player simply played all channels to the TV.
Anyway around this?
If theres no way around this, I might need to take it back!0 -
Ahh, thats what it was. I was actually looking for a menu of that type, but could'nt find it at first - why - because I was playing a DVD, and whilst playing, the audio setup menu does not appear!
Anyway thanks zaccy. I got it sorted now.
BTW, I just tested a couple of Xvid's on this baby, and it plays them too!!!
Now I just need to find a multi region hack!
(Thats wierd my post came before your's zaccy)0
