Broadband/TV/Phoneline bundles

My free broadband is due to end next month, so I need to make a choice as to who I go with now.

I have explored the options open to me and I would be keen to do a bundle with TV and my home phone line as the prices don't seem too bad.

So I think that leaves me with Sky, BT Vision, or Virgin.

I wouldn't want to be spending more than £30 a month, and from what I can tell I would still be paying my BT line rental.

I do not want to spend the extra on Sky Movies/Sports, just the basic (or within £30 a month) package would be fine.

BT Vision seems tempting, but the bundle of TV and Broadband doesn't seem to come with many advantages over the price they would be seperately.

Interested in peoples views, thanks in advance.

I posted about bundles but put it on the Techie forum. Talk Talk are offering
free broadband, line rental, evening and weekend calls and free router. This is just what I want and at £16.99 is a great offer but as I am with AOL I think they will not let me have it as Talk Talk are with AOL now.

I am not very interested in SKY TV but I think they have a good offer
which includes broadband and you will definitely get a good bundle for the price you have mentioned.
  • BT Vision... Dont even go there! all you get is Freeview with a few on demand programms, none of the channels which make having cable/satalite worth having, no Discoverey, Bravo, Sky Sports, Sky one, Cartoon Network, Jetix, Disney channels etc.

AND BT have the cheek to charge you from £6 a month for what you can get by going to ASDA (or indeed any other name brand supermarket) and buying a freeview box for £20!

All you get extra is DVR abilitys (to tape the grand total of nothing that is on.)

IF you want a package I suggest going with Sky or Virgin, leave BT visiuon well alone, they tie you in to a 12/18 month contract and to cancell it can cost UPWARD OF £100. £100 for practicaly nothing.

    Buyer beware!

(and if anyone knows a way I can get out of my BT Vision contract without having to fork out a fortune I would be most interested to hear it.)
I Reject your reality and substitute my own.

When life gives you lemons, throw em back and say you want CASH instead!
  • cheers for the BT Vision heads up.

i should have also pointed out that we have freeview built in to our tv anyway.

I have BT Vision and I think it's great, it's not Sky, and it's not cable, but it's not supposed to be. I think it depends on how important TV is to you. For me, it's not hugely important and I wouldnt pay for the whole Sky/Cable thing, but want something over and above Freeview

You get is the Freeview channels and a DVR. If you want to watch a film, then you can select it from On Demand and just pay for the content you watch.

Not sure what the £6/Asda comment is about, you only pay for on-demand content on a pay per view basis or you can take a viewing package, but there are no compulsory subscription charges.

As I said, dont compare it to Sky, but there are plenty of people like me who would like a bit extra than Freeview gives you and this fills the gap nicely.
  • We have the Sky package, it starts at £17 for TV, free 2MB broadband and free evening and weekend calls. They often have deals where if a friend (already a SKY customer) recommends you, you and your friend will get something free (offers have been you and your friend get a free SKY+ box upgrade or you and your friend receive £50 marks and spencer vouchers each).

We had the vouchers and I have had no problems with the broadband connection (has been over a year now).

Pipex/tiscali don't go there,I have just obtained my mac code so am looking around too. I like the packages where you get the free geographical calls, with sky you can pay an extra fiver to get it day and night. I save my family and friends money too,cos when they ring me ,I ring them straight back.Think sky is best for me, we are already with them for the tv so can't get referred
