We got ours from Aldi about 2weeks ago. They are nice, we had one last year too.0

I have never bought a turkey crown before. I assume it is purley the breast of the bird without the legs, so it's less hassle to cut up when cold?
We don't have an Aldi near us. Do Tesco do one, or Somerfield (can be expensive!). Are crowns more expensive per £ than whole turkeys, as presumably you get more meat?
Any comments would be much appreciated.
thanks
Tesco do a large breast of turkey ie just the one side of the crown. Smaller than Aldi's but that's reflected in price. They have several different Christmassy roasts, salmon, beef too.
Aldi this year have again the 3 bird joint - turkey, duck and chicken stuffed. They have stuffed pheasant too and a couple of other festive joints.0 -
I bought one a few weeks ago, cooked it, separated into batches and froze them in freezer bags for when we want a curry/chinese.
Granted that the portions are not massive and I will bulk them out, but I think I got 8 batches, each batch being enough for 2 adults.0 -
We always go to Aldi for a 2.5kg turkey crown, with cranberries & apricot stuffing. So much meat.
Anyone know how much these are this year, please. They were £9.99 I think last christmas.
Edited to say I've just seen an advert & they're £12.99 (25% more this year) it says, Aldi's site.0 -
ALDI turkey crowns are actually baby donkeys.

Just to let you know we had xmas dinner number one yesterday...the frozen turkey crown from aldi was lovely when cooked. There was enough for 4 adults and 2 children and loads left for sandwiches later.
I cooked it as per the instructions it gave and it was lovely and moist (and it didn't taste of donkey).
Happy christmas everyone0 -
I'd gone in last week to buy the 3 bird roast but the pic was nothing like it shows in the ad. It was all stuffing and hardly any bird so I went for the crown instead0

How many donkeys have you tasted...? :rotfl:
(I've just realised that could be taken as rude so thought I'd add I was talking about roast donkey, on a plate!)0 -
Just been to Aldi & saw all the turkey breast crowns. They did an apricot & cranberry stuffing in previous years in the 2.5 kg for £12.99. THIS year they're not doing that stuffing but these are stuffed with pork, apple & cranberry, 2.5kg for £12.99 again. Also Holly Lane's 1.36kg fully iced Christmas cake with brandy in it which is very yummy. £6.990
