Sunday 5/10/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Hi to any new posters and a big shout to the usual gang:j

Today I will:
  • Check online banking
  • see if any clicks
  • storecupboard lunch and tea
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • Go for swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership - might go twice today;)
  • Try out my new remoska and see what all the fuss is about
  • Make some cakes/flapjacks for DD and OH
  • Sort and shred a load of financial papers
  • Tidy and clean house with stardrops and microfibre cloths
  • Take a pile of stuff to recycling centre
  • Won the bonus ball at work last night so £20 on its way to me- woo hoo
  • Found 25p whilst cleaning out my car
  • found another £1 in locker at gym
Good morning roomies:D , had a lovely time yesterday with my friend - only spent £5 each on lunch out and managed not to spend much in town. Treated my DD to a lovely black wool coat from Asda though - real bargain at £15:rolleyes:
Just off now for an early morning swim:D have a good day everyone - enjoy what is left of the weekend.
Reduce,re-use, recycle.

    Morning All!

    Yesterday I put loads of DS's old clothes in a nearly new sale. I think I sold about 1/3 of them. 20% of the profit goes to Cancer research and I'll know next week how much I have made. Today I am going to put the rest I didn't sell as a big bundle on ebay.

    We're also clearing out our garage today to make space to get the garden furniture in so hopefully I'll have some more stuff to put on there although DH already despairing that our house looks like a jumble sale :rotfl:

    So I'm also planning on a NSD as I'm not going to go anywhere :T

    Morning all,
    Really chuffed yesterday as my mum & dad found some curtains for my bedroom from Oxfam for£3.99 - they are beautiful - have put them up temporarily but need to wash them and re-do linings. Has really inspired me to start doing things around the house again.
    Sister has offered me use of her sewing machine tomorrow evening (including her company and a bottle of wine) so need to sort through my clothes to take things that need altering.
    So, sorry to mumble on there but today I will:
    * make home-made bread
    * put down the apples I meant to do yesterday
    * have done scratch-cards (found another bongo site which offers free cards too)
    * have done daily clicks
    * washed sofa covers on 30 degrees and drying on line inside
    * filled in dd student loan info again (change in circumstances)
    * will work on Xmas list now all my friends & families birthdays are over for this year

    Morning, can't say good!! It'd chucking it down and I've agreed to meet my dad for breakfast later.... I can see another mad hair day approaching!

    Painted lady, I have plenty of "blonde" moments and I've never been blonde!

    Glad you had a good and reasonable lunch Sophiesmum, I think we forget about socialising in the obsession of becoming debt free, which is not, necessarily, a good thing

    • work out my finances for the week
    • have 4 items finish on ebay, 2 have bids the others have watchers
    • pay that money to my saddle fund (today or tomorrow)
    • post 4 more items on ebay
    • make a loaf
    • do the weekly food shopping, having made a list, best get on with it!!
    • do ironing
    • go see horse

    I will not be out today but staying in and working my way through the Band of Brothers DVD box-set I got yesterday courtesy of my Pigsback points win - there will be a small gap to watch the Rangers v St Mirren game;
    Not buying a paper today but reading it online;
    Sorting out my financial files and sticking the Halifax file up in the loft given that my credit card with them has recently been settled (after 7 years!!!!!)
    Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

    Good Morning

    A beautiful bright day here so I think I will go out for a nice walk later to make the most of it. Today I have/will:
    • Banking
    • Clicks
    • List items on Amazon
    • List items on Gumtree
    • Work with my DD to clear items out her room (to sell)
    • Encourage my OH to continue painting
    • Bake a loaf
    • Store cupboard meals
    • Bake tasty bits for next week
    • Plan next weeks lunch boxes
    • Do some reading for my new course
    • Get organised for next week (to stop surprise purchases)
    • Pay CT
    • Make a payment to my CC
    • Budget for the rest of the month
    I think that will do! I have been spending money recently however I have hunted out (onine) the very best bargains and saved a fortune on birthday and Christmas gifts as well as making money back so I am really pleased. Hope you all have a good day!
