Help! Lidl not listening to a genuine complaint!

Hello,

My Dad is having real problems with Lidl. He bought a computer from them in early September but when he got it home he found it had been used  and had someone else's stuff on it, and XP not Vista. He took it back to the shop in Coalville and asked them to do something. They told him they'd get him a new one within 10 days. That hasn't happened and no amount of phoning the helpline or writing to them is changing this. He's persevering as he actually wants the computer and not a refund. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'd like to get hold of the contact details for the boss of Lidl UK and give him a piece of my mind but I can't find any details!

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I recently bought a combi microwave from there which was in a bit of a tatty box, but was assured that the item was unused and ok. Got home to find that it had been used (food spatters inside) and the microwave didn't even work! Took it back immediately and got a refund without any hassle. Got an apology but a bottle of vino or something would have been nice as a goodwill gesture in view of the fact I wasted an hour of my day dealing with it and traveled 30miles round trip. Caveat emptor!

We had a problem with a Lidl bought computer a number of years ago and experienced various issues with Customer Services and Head Office. I then told them that I had taken advice from Trading Standards and would be willing to follow through with their recommendations if matter was not resolved - it was resolved very soon after by way of a full refund on the product!

no they still sell them (as a special)
  • Thanks for all the sympathy! As I said, my Dad's already written to them and phoned head office. I think it's time to get trading standards involved.

The last time they had them in was a store reopening when i got my old Targa PC from them that must have been 3-4 years ago, certainly havent seen any in the weekly special email they send me since then, unless they only sell them in specific areas
  • we managed to get a computer for £10 (honest! i am typing on it right now!) in one of their car boot sales. Hubby workd there and soptted it at the bottom of the pile of stuff - it needed a bit of repair which my hubby did and its brilliant. Lidl and Aldis technical stuff is really good and well worth the money.

As people have said, get trading standards involved. Lidl are generally awful at helping customers.
  • Quick update:

I LOVE LIDL NOW! My Dad went into the shop and harangued the manager. He phoned the head office on his behalf and managed to get through to the big cheese of Lidl. The big cheese has not only refunded my Dad and apologised sincerely, he has also refunded him! So complaining has paid off. Very impressed - this wasn't the outcome I was expecting! Full marks to Lidl!
