Anyone heard about PCShowBuzz?

Hi, I was on Quidco before and I came across a company that allegedly lets you turn your pc into a tv by downloading a programme that you buy from them. I don't completely understand it, but if it's ok, it would be good for my son who's at uni. He can't access tv in his room so this would be a great improvement for him if it works as easily as they say it does.
Could somebody have a quick butchers and see what they think - is it really as easy as to pay the fee and download the programme?
This is the link that I got through Quidco. It's not a referral or anything as I haven't signed up to it.

Thanks for your help,

Hi Jan
I've never used this exact software before but I personally wouldn't touch it.
The programme allows you to watch TV streams broadcast over the internet. Because of this your son would need a reasonable internet connection to be able to watch without the picture pausing while it waits for the next part of the programme to download.
The selection of channels probably isn't too great. You'll find plenty of shopping and religious channels and probably quite a few news ones too.
Most of (maybe even all) you can watch for free from the broadcaster's website anyway.
This free site http://wwitv.com/portal.htm is a database of many (2833 at the moment) TV streams that are free to watch. Plus there's also the option of the BBC iPlayer, Channel 4's 4OD, ITV's catch-up service and five's demand five - all for free and a much better selection of programmes.
You can get a USB dongle to watch digital terrestrial TV on your computer. These are good when plugged in to an external TV aerial but can be a pretty poor with the little stick aerial that comes with it - plus there's a small matter of the license fee to think about.
I hope I've helped rather than confused!0 -
You might also want to download the free Winamp (https://www.winamp.com) media player which includes access to ShoutCast TV and Radio streams. I was watching back to back episodes of Family Guy the other night on one of the TV streams.0
