Advice from anyone please - (have also had Viagra ones and this is the only site I send off for anything from) but am posting because received this e-mail today:

Darla added you as a friend on Facebook. We need to confirm that you know Darla in order for you to be friends on Facebook.

To confirm this friend request, follow the link below:
    http://www.facebook.com/n/?reqs.php

    Thanks,
    The Facebook Team

    - as am not a member of any social network site (obviously won't/can't confirm or allow) but how/where did 'Darla' or anyone else (unless it was something I sent off for on here) get my e-mail address from? This seems bizarre and concerning to me.

Explanations/advice from anyone welcomed - ta!

Thanks for replying - but, no - don't know/have never been on any social networks/have not got a clue how they have my e-mail address or know who I am - don't know how they can know my e-mail/add me/or even want to add me when I am not on Facebook and never have been!!!!!!!!

Am concerned to how Darla or facebook have my e-mail address when I am not on the site?!

    Thanks again for replying.

... and I'm sure Darla would add you if she (he?!) could!

you don't have to be/have ever been a member of facebook- if someone has your email address and they join facebook then there's an option when they join to "import contacts" from their hotmail/yahoo/whereever.
If they had your address then they might've added you (possibly by accident as sometimes these things send even to people that you don't select)

I wouldn't worry too much about- it's almost certainly someone you know/knew- perhaps Darla is a nickname or abbreviation or perhaps it's someone you emailed in passing (maybe via ebay, a job application or any number of things)
If it really concerns you then the best thing to do is just hit delete :)
    hope this helps.

Thanks so much for replying. Still have not got a clue who Darla is (and am pretty sure if was someone I knew would know) but your reply does put my mind at ease - thanks!!
