I need to make a custom 6 way extension lead because no-one seems to sell the length I require (8 metres).
Argos sell a 10M one but it's too expensive.
I don't really want a reel and i defo don't want to make extension lead chains.
Can anyone advise on how i can achieve my objective?
I was thinking of purchasing a cheap 6 way (£1.49), then a reel of cable and finally a guide on how to make the the lead i need.
Is there a limit to the length a 6-way can go?
Any advice, tips, safety, guides etc would be appreciated.

If Argos sell a 10 metre one then an 8 metre one will be OK...0

You say the Argos one is expensive but have you actually costed mains cable? Reels of mains cable tend to come in 50 metres so if you want 10ft, you're going to be buying it from a small shop who'll charge through the nose.
How competent are you?0 -
That's what i'm thinking.
Here is the Argos one:

So any guides on how i can make one of these puppies and what kinda cable i need?0 -
I thought you were the IT guy / practical type and flashed the cash ??0

just buy the cable and save the hassle, its not that expensive. when you said expensive I was thinking 40-50 quid.0

Why not get the short, cheap 6-way extension and then a 10m single 13 amp extension and plug one into the other?
Alternatively, even places like B&Q will sell cable by the metre. It's not that expensive.0 -

Get your cheap 6way from wherever that is and then head of to your local wilkos as they do cable by the meter so you can get as much as you need and grab yourself a plug.
Just make sure the plug has a 13amp fuse and I wouldn't worry about the length to much as you can get 50m extension leads.0 -
just buy the argos one and be done with it. not worth the hassle of making one for that price.
and it also has surge protection.Get some gorm.0 -
By the time you go here & ther for different components you may aswell just buy the argos one. it will probably save you money & hasle in the long run.You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0

Surely all you have to do is buy a 10m extension lead, cut off 2 metres at the plug end and fit another plug.0
