I too was wondering if this was not E7 but some other form of dual rate tariff.

If it's not E7, then yes it could be switching at almost anytime.

If it is E7, I found this useful guide by eon yesterday on switching times (not sure how accurate it is and if like me, the clock is not radio controlled, the clock can be wrong too!):
    http://www.eonenergy.com/FAQ/Meters/Economy-7-Details.htm

It says East Midlands is active for a 7 hour period between 11:30pm and 8:30am

BUT that is GMT! So if wizzywig27 was told that off peak starts at midnight, that is midnight GMT which is 1:00am BST.

As far as I can see it it radio controlled, i think it says it on the pictures?

Then the timing from the regional supplier is switched off, or faulty and you are on 'Normal' daytime rates either by design(Npower) or accident(faulty apparatus). Bet it is the former!

Well, when I was on e.on it was fine, no problems. I have spoke to Npower who have basically told me it is faulty, as they have not made any amendments to the meter! So will I have problem claiming the money back?

when I was on e.on, I had the following rates, 12am - 7am off peak, 2pm - 4pm off peak, and 8pm - 9pm off peak, all other times were standard daytime rate.

With e.on, for 5 weeks my bill was £76 (before I went to Npower) which seems alot, as I NEVER put heating of immersion on during day, I was away for a week of that, so I have to say, I think there is something wrong.

The readings on the actual meter are not going up, only the standard day rate is going up
    Ah... that makes sense. :)

With eon you were on an E10 tariff and the hot water system you have would be ideal for that. I was struggling to see the benefit in your hot water system with E7 - you will probably run out of hot water during the day meaning heating up at the expensive rate. As the system is designed so that the water you heat is then used to heat the water to the taps (as opposed to usual systems where the water you heat goes directly to the taps) it's probably less efficient than normal systems too.

    Unfortuantely I don't think nPower supports E10.

It does seem an awful coincidence that you change to NPower and it goes faulty!!!!!

An Important point is that I didn't think NPower supported E10!!!! (not sure of that though)

That may be the reason and I bet you a virtual pint:beer: that it has been switched off! You cannot believe anything that the call centre tell you.

They will normally base any refund on past consumption data(if available)

However given you have been with Npower for a short while and sums involved are not great, they might make a gesture and put you well in pocket.

Ok, I when I spoke to Npower the other day, she did say they can change my meter, but before they do that I need an account number creating, but they cant create an account number until they have checked my meter serial number...so its a vicious circle.

I know Npower used to do a 'super tariff' which is like heatwise...??

I just checked my meter reading, heres how it has worked out:

    2nd October: Normal: 28732, Boost: 0000, Afternoon: 06010. Night/Evening: 9105
    3rd October: Normal: 28747, Boost: 0000, Afternoon: 06010. Night/Evening: 9105
    4th October: Normal: 28764, Boost: 0000, Afternoon: 06010. Night/Evening: 9105
    5th October: Normal: 28778, Boost: 0000, Afternoon: 06010. Night/Evening: 9105

So that works out, in 4 days roughly £9 spent on electric! £2.25 a day, £70 a month!!! I really suspect there is a problem with the supply to this property, at the mo, the items I have plugged in are PC, TV, Sky, Fridge, Alarm Clock, thats it, and ok, I use other items, but £2.25 a day seems an awful lot?

Firstly 46 units is not £9.

You are using the Tier 1 rate at around 20p/kWh. The more realistic figure is the Economy 7 Tier 2 daytime figure of around 12p?(East Midlands is one of the cheapest areas in the country) So £5 -£6 is more realistic.

Presumably you are using Hot water as well? Any heating?

Obviously something is wrong for the other meters not to register.

However! 46 kWh in 4 days for an all electric house is low! I use far more than that and I have gas CH. you are using about the average for a property with gas CH.

Could it be that you are being supplied in the 7 or 10 hours but the meter is not registering?

I think I get charged about 18p for my day units, so 18p x 46 units is £8.28, obviously if the other meters were working then some of them wouldnt be going onto my day rate?

18p for all day units? are you sure?

You miss my point. I was suggesting that you could be getting electricity(at the cheap rate times) that should register on your other meters - but is not registering on any meter including your day rate meter. i.e. you could be getting 'free' electricity.

Seriously, 46 units in 4 days is low consumption if you heat Hot Water.

do you reckon? I think it seems like quite alot in all honesty, for what I have plugged in anyway
