Help - Need to rotate text in word

I must be doing something wrong. I know the green circle you mention; it does not appear when I select the pasted image.
1. I drew text box
2. Copied it
3.Paste special
4. Selected pasted image; no rotation tool
Not important - but these little things niggle me!
