Router Firmware

Signal keeps disconnecting....despite me being sat 2 foot from the router..
In all the cases of this I've seen, it's been the drivers for the wifi dongles if it drops then reconnects for a few minutes before dropping again. Otherwise if it's the router, it's a hardware failure (usually on Belkins) and no amount of firmware upgrading will cure that.0 -
ive updated lots of netgear routers with never a problem.
also done bt home hubs. updated and reset them to older versions, again no problems.
as been said, your problem is more likely to be the dongle/wireless card sw/drivers etc...Get some gorm.0 -
it's more like the wifi dongle drivers than the router
and wifi can be iffy to start withthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
Patchy wireless reception can be down to anything first and foremost try changing the channel it uses, failing that try moving the areial to a different position as in the angle it points or moving the router etc.
Sometimes updating the firmware can improve wireless reception with certain cards but that would depend on the card and the router firmware version as to wether or not there where issues with it. Moved channels loads..all the usual stuff..{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
it's not a firmware problem, get cable and wireless to change the router. Firmware will not fix the disconnection problem if it used to be fine before.0
