I've got a cable and wireless router that I've had for a while....
How would I go about updating the firmware? Do I even need to do this?

I would REALLY advise against updating router firmware. if it goes wrong (As it did with me once) you end up with a DEAD router!:idea:0

It might fix it if the problem is with corrupted firmware...
OK OP - the process is usually just go to the manufacturer's site, support section, search for model, and download a firmware update tool which does it all for you.
