Thanks - doubled checked my startup - already been there several times these past few days - nothing there.0

It just goes to show that when it comes to anti-virus and -spyware, no single product will catch everything...sometimes you need to drop lucky on the right one for your infection...unfortunately, only one anti-virus can be used at a time, thankfully you can usually use a few anti-spyware simultaneously.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Just to let you know I (and many other AVG Free users!) have the same problem and the response on the AVG forum is:
Official status:
false positive, due to very similar, misused version of the hook driver. The legal version used in SD and similar, will be removed from detection.
which is a bit of a relief since I've been scanning non-stop for hours now too!0 -
Also
Mine came up as SOON as I installed SPYWARE DOCTOR!
Ive got rid of it now as it wanted me to register to remove the cookies (Which I can do anyway!):idea:0 -

Yeah, having run AVG, a-sqaured and other things, which found things differently so have been aware of having to have quite a number of things to find lots of nasty little bugs. At least now I now have Kaspersky, Spyware doctor and the other things suggested here in my arsenal.
Though my friend who suggested posting on MSE and now myself (I have just completed a full AVG scan)
are now getting a
Trojan Horse Generic 11.AOKW
C:\system Volume Information\_restore......
my friend says it keeps moving around, and we can't seem to find anything about this online.
Can it be removed from the folder or just shut down system restore and then start it up again and creating new restore points (as it should be now blank)?
Thanks.
(Never rains but pours lol) £1 million at stake or some thanks (as I don't have £1 million

The other thing you need to do is, go to MyComputer, your hard drive, right click, select properties, select disk cleanup, check all boxes, press the more options tab, and click to clean up your old restore points as well, then re-run whichever security tool picked up the infection last time.....that should do it..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I am sorry to hijack this thread but I have similar problems as well a couple of days. I've run a full AVG scan, pc tools spy doctor and even run house call and none of these works. I've read thru the AVG forum and the general consensus is that it's false positive (haven't got a clue what it is).
I've ignored it and few days ago I could no longer see it on starting my computer. I'm always using spyware doctor to scan before I logged out.
The only thing that I noticed though since it has disappeared my PC seems very slow. Any hints and tips as to why this happens?0 -

A false positive means its nothing to worry about. AVG THINKS theres a problem when there isnt.:idea:0
