Anyone buying Gold yet ?
Bought some a couple of weeks back. Not as much as I'd have liked though, only half of what I wanted as a hedge as the funds weren't in the trading account at the time. Then held back when it went up by a fair bit and waited for it to fall. D'oh!--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

Looks like the bears are running this forum from now on - anyone who is optimistic is reported by the entire bear gang and is booted off. Excellent parameters for a balanced debate!!
DD, did you really feel that anything Horsehatprat posted was "balanced debate"?
I'm all for debate, tell me where I'm wrong, I'm keen to know. And I'll explain why I think I'm right. Indeed you and I have debated in the past and I feel I've learned somethnig from you, and who knows you might have from me.
But if instead I simply came on here with posts like "just had dinner with aliens that can see into the future and they tell me that all houses will be £5 next week, haha, all you house buyers are gutter trash and losers", would that be useful or desirable? Because that is bluntly exactly what he/she was doing.
Nothing to do with who is "running" the forum, everything to do with keeping the place useful and interesting for people.
And for the record I was one of the (possibly many) people who reported this idiot.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Thanks Max, and yes I certainly learnt from your posts and from the other sensible guys on MSE. I guess my main point was that there doesn't seem to be an even hand when it comes to booting people off the system. There is a CRASH CRASH CRASH thread still going strong and there was a host of idiotic bear posts that were not deleted and their OPs were not removed from the system.
I agree that horsesarseman was a pest, but no more than the other idiots on MSE. I do know that the policy on MSE is that if enough people complain then the (overworked) mods simply delete that person or set them to PPR status. Surely this is open to abuse, especially when one runs foul of the 'bear gang'.
It just seems to me that if you write a load of alarmist claptrap about "sell your houses before we have 60% average house price falls", "the end of Western Civilisation is nigh", We'll all be moved to death camps", then there are no ramifications.
If you make a few (equally absurd) posts saying that we've reached the bottom, that people should buy houses quickly or be priced out of the market, then you're banned and all your posts are deleted.
