I love it.
If you like sports/ movies/ nature programes then the picture is well worth it.
Boxes are unreliable as hell but worth it for the picture. (my missus hates it though!)Saving and spending in equal measure0 -
Your Mrs hates it cos you watch it so much?

I wish that was the case!!
She hates it because it randomly decides not to record home and away and other soaps (if carlsberg made HD boxes.......)
We are now on our 4th HD box for a variety of reasons, Sky are pretty good at sorting it for us though, never paid a penny extra. Just annoying when your kit goes wrong (especially after it took me so long to convince her it was worth it!)Saving and spending in equal measure0 -

Hd boxes are not of the samebuild quality that the firt digiboxes were. You will probably go through quite alot of boxes with different faults. An hd box will prob work for about 4-6monthd then it will need replacing. The hd picture will depend on the spec of your tv & you could get up to 4x the picture quality that you get on a standard definition pic.You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0

We have Sky HD but only the basic package, no sports or movies. Gordon Ramsey catching puffins on an Icelandic island was stunning, and HD footy on my neighbour's TV does look excellent too. We watch quite a lot of programmes on Sky One which are in HD, also Channel 4 and a few BBC programmes. ITV HD is not available through Sky.
What I have found is that the SD picture quality varies so much from programme to programme that some shows are not such a major improvement in HD. We paid £75 for our box + £60 installation and were pleased with that, so £49 is a real bargain! We also have to pay the extra £10 a month for the HD mix but overall I would say yes it is worth it. There are only going to be more programmes coming in HD and it would be a shame to miss out if you have an HD tv.0 -
the picture is better on most channels due to the HDMI connection being that much better than your cheap scart lead. You notice it on the bigger budget stuff more (lost, hereos etc) that the picture is better. If you like football it is a must, really shines.Saving and spending in equal measure0

To get the best benefit of the Hd channels the obviously you would need a hdmi cable, by running it through scart then it will show in sd.You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.0
