Part baked rolls

Options
I want to make lots of rolls up to bung in the freezer for over Christmas, I know you can buy part baked rolls and would rather freeze mine part baked so they taste fresh on the day......but does it work on HM rolls? Anyone tried it at all??

I'd be inclined to cook them fully and freeze them. Just deforst them in the normal way and then either nuke them or warm them in the oven when you need them.

I agree with squeaky - don't worry about part-baking them. As long as you freeze them the moment they're cool enough to go in the freezer (and don't leave them there too long!) they are fine. Just let them defrost for an hour, bung 'em in the oven on gas 4 or 5 for 5 mins and they fill your kitchen with a lovely smell of baking just as if you'd just made them. I wouldn't put them in the microwave as I think it dries them out, but the ordinary oven is fine.

I have made up a batch of dough for bread rolls, now only really want a few for the next day or so, can I part cook some of them then cool and freeze like the part baked bread you can buy?
Its 60%white 20%granary and 20%spelt if that makes any difference:confused:

I think you can do that, or freeze them completely uncooked. I would bake the whole lot and freeze the extras;)

Thanks, thats what I have decided to do-easier to just defrost rather than have to cook.... But I just liked the idea of freshly baked from freezer.

Hotcookie, you could still cook them all together, but take some out (for the freezer) about 5 mins early, when they are cooked, but not browned. If you know what I mean? Then you can still have the freshly baked taste from the freezer without overcooking them, and they are still cooked if you want one in a hurry.

    It's only a game

    Can anyone help.

Ive jsut bought anew MR breadmaker having not had one for a couple of years.

I was hoping to make the dough up, then make into rolls, part bake, then put into the oven for 10 mins in the mornings- like the shops own bake at home baguettes/ rolls.

Is this possible? I have tried to search, but couldnt see the answer specifically to this

thanks in advance if you can help :)

So being a fan of supermarket part-baked rolls for that 'just baked' taste. I'm wondering if there is a way to make HM rolls, part bake then freeze ready to pop in the oven when needed.

    Has anyone tried this???

    anybody :-(?????

Never tried it, but why don;t you make some and see. I can't see why it wouldn't work because you can freeze dough and i don't see how there would be any health risks.

Give it a go and report back, id be interested in this myself.

I make my own bread by letting my breadmaker make the dough, prove the bread for 2 hours and then I cook the dough for 18mins on 200 degrees C.

I want to part-bake the bread to freeze, then bring out and just finish it off when I have guests. You can buy part-baked loaves in the supermarket so I wondered if anyone does this & could tell ne how long I would initially cook my dough before freezing? How long would I cook it straight from frozen?

    Thanks in advance.
