BT Don't Offer Monthly Direct Debit??

I have 3 options on online billing:
1) One off payment by debit/credit card
2) Monthly payment plan
3) Whole bill direct debit every 3 months.
Number 2 looks like a nice option, right? NO NO. It is not by direct debit, they want to set up a CPA on my debit card.... I don't want this!! If I phone them will they allow me to set up a monthly dd? Does anyone pay their BT phone bill by monthly dd? Is it something they don't offer anymore?
Help!!!

I don't know the technical banking details but do know that at least BT, unlike your utility companies, do give you online access so that YOU can choose to alter the monthly payment amount and date.0

Can I cancel the CPA via the website? I would imagine not and I would rather not give them free reign over my bank account!
Southern water don't give me internet access but at least when I call, I can talk to someone in the UK.
That is why I have to use BT's online system because every time I call, first point of contact is someone in the UK and even when I request that they don't, they still put me through to India!!Kavanne

I use a separate account that only has a limited sum in it so it doesn't bother me.
And go to the pictures and watch 'Drona', which is out this week, to tune your ear to Hindi inflections. I'd rather listen to an Indian speaking than some softly spoken Scottish mumbler.0 -
Bt Monthly Payment Plan: you get to pick the date the payment is debited from your account, this is a fixed amount unless stated on your next bt bill, you have a credit limit of 3.5 times your monthly payment i.e. making monthly payments of £20 per month will give a credit limit of £70, as long as the debit amount on your statement/account doesnt reach this amount then payments will just resume at the same rate, you can always make an interim payment to your account if the debit is getting close to the credit limit. If you go into credit by 3.5 times the monthly payment amount then this will spark an automatic refund to your bank account and a letter is generated to suggest a new lower payment amount. Refunds can be requested over the phone anytime. If the dd is sent back from your bank unpaid the request will go through again automatically 7 days later, if sent back a second time then a one off bill is produced by bt to pay any account debit - this has to be paid promptly to avoid having the line restricted. It has its positives and negatives.
Bt can offer monthly dd if requested over the phone they don't prefer it but can be done, you will be billed monthly and the whole bill amount will be deducted approx 14 days after the bill production date. You do not get to choose dates when this is taken. Worth signing onto ebilling so you get the bill on the date of production.
Hope this helps.0 -

.
I never thought of that Ii think it's the solution. Will open a basic account with my bank and pay it this way. Annoying having to have a separate account to do it though! Knowing my luck BT won't accept Solo/Electron...
I don't like having to speak slower so the operator understands me and I don't like the operator constantly reading out scripts!! BTstil have £50 of my money from overcharging me with broadband and I cannot get anyone in india to either 1)put me through to the UK or 2) understand WHY I have been overchargedd!! I explain to them but they don't have a clue, it's ridiculous.
I don't speak hindi myself but if I did I imagine I would have no problems with BT!!Kavanne

I've been paying my bills by monthly direct debit for 5 years.
Every month the bill arrives, it gives me 7-10 days notice of what date that months bill will be taken out of my account.0 -
I've just signed up to BT and made sure I was on a monthy DD.0

BT do offer monthly whole bill by DD (we were on it when with BT, other friends and family are on it). However they often say they don't. You have to push them sometimes. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

You need to be on a Monthly bill contract before BT can offer this. It sounds as though your on quarterly billing, and the only option here is the budget plan previously discussed.0

Just call them and tell them you want to change to monthly whole bill DD, it is on their website hidden away somewhere, but they prefer not to advertise it because with the other 2 options they get to keep your money in their account.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
