I noted that as well, just as well really as there is an allergy in our house. :rotfl:

Thanks Espresso. I think I need one of each. It will save me going out to the garage to read the meter every morning.. It will also be useful to know how much each appliance costs.
  • I know I've said this before, but if you are genuinely after an OWL wireless monitor, the Daily Mail have given away 100,000 of them (rebranded British Gas) a week or so ago and I'm expecting they will be hitting people's door mats an hour or so before they hit ebay:D The sheer volume of them that IMO will be placed on ebay will have a downward effect on prices attained, so there should be some genuine bargains. HTH.

I have just got a e.on version of the wireless monitor, just a quick question to people who are using these, does it give a monthly total on cost by any chance?

Also I am using on everage 250-400 watts, does this seem about right?

One last question, when I set up the tarriff info, and the off peak times, it asks me my higher rate, which is 18.61p, however that is for the first 728kwh per year....so do I put in the higher amount, or lower amount?

    Thanks

I worked out my unit cost by taking my annual kwh , working out total cost and dividing by total units.

Our baseline is about 100w but goes up and down according to what the fridge and freezer are doing. Early morning (radio, laptop etc) is about 200-300w. Evening climbs to about 700-800 with TVs, lights etc.

These monitors really do become a bit of an obsession very quickly, don't they? :D

Not at all. Can't help it if I've placed it where I can see it all evening and whenever else I sit down.:rotfl:

Ahhhh see, I have only been a customer for about 5 weeks! And living her for 9 or so......

It was really weird, earlier on it was averaging 380-410 watts. now its settled down on 190 ish, not nothing has changed, same appliances are still plugged in, alrmingly, I put the kettle on, and it went up to 1.5kwh, with a bill of £200 for the month :naughty:

I have a large fridge, large freezer, clock on gas cooker, gas boiler, security light (and of course, the energy monitor) running in the background so we never go down to zero but it doesn't stay constant because the fridge and freezer vary according to how the compressor cuts in etc.

I don't worry about the kettle, washing machine etc - but in the evening when these things aren't being used, I like to see it at 800w or less. Any more than that makes me think lights have been left on or something else is not quite right.
