Do you have admin rights on the PC, is it XP, you haven't accidentally run the installation twice at the same time have you, does it do the same after a reboot?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Thanks. U where right, i had it on twice. I've done it, clicked Scan for issues. It completed. Nothing else has come up. Do i need to do anything else, like click, fix selected issues?0

ccleaner cleans up the "crap" left behind by your browsing and other temporary files, it is unlikely to have any significant impact on the speed of your PC.., but is a good thing to do anyway.
Personally, I am a bit wary of the fix it function, as I have had bad experiences with Norton utils doing a similar function in the past. (Norton used to be the Rolls Royce of utils..). They both basically scan the registry for missing files, or incorrect entries, and quite often delete the registry entry. In my case with Norton, it deleted entries that it didn't understand, and stopped things working..

What seems slow on your PC?
If on XP, go into control panel, system, advanced, performance, settings, and click adjust for best performance (all the graphical bells and whistles in XP, slow the system down..)
See my post on this page, and take note of the other posters tips about scanning for rogue software.

What operating system/virus scanner/spyware scanner/firewall are you using, do you have loads of icons in the right hand corner of the screen, have you defragged the hard disk. In task manager, sort it into processor utilisation order (click CPU), and post back a list of any programs hogging the processor.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks to this thread, I have downloaded, installed and run ccleaner just now. It works fine.
However I have one question: since I can get to cookies, history and temporary internet files myself to delete them, what else does ccleaner do that I can't do myself?Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
it deletes a long list of rubbish, see the tick box panel on the left hand side, and it does it in 1 click, rather than numerous in IE, and it's free...!Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
