am on aol silver on the £9.99 deal .... read about the £6.99 deal on here ...
rang aol to get it .. .... they advised that i'm about to get a letter saying that as they don't have their equipment in my local exchange .. and no plans to.. .. i'm a loss making account and they're increasing my price to £17.99 .... non negotiable other than if i agree now to an 18 month new contract .. they'll give me 6 more months at 9.99 before implementing the 17.99 price .
Gobsmacked !! ... haven't seen anything on here about it ???

Carphone warehouse strikes again, I guess they are correct about your non LLu'd account being run at a loss. Sky charge £17 ish for non LLU'd exchanges.
Guess its time for you to think about moving? Have you looked on Samknows to see if you have any LLU operators at your exchange? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

This doesn't surprise me, as I tried to negotiate down today.
My exchange has talk talk so they offer best value for me. Seems like a switch is in order.0 -
Isn't talk talk owned by Carphone Warehouse too? So, wouldn't the price go up on that eventually too? :S Not sure, just wondering... If you move from AOL to talk talk, you'd still be with Carphone Warehouse.0

You are right, but I believe they still operate competatively against eachother. But in my case AOL is at a disadvantage to talk talk.
If prices went up. I could always go to BT, so they need to remain competative. Hopefully over time services at exchanges should get better with more choice, although my area is more rural so it is a lower priority.
If TT decided to put up prices where they are the only other unbundled provider to BT, because of lack of competition, this would stop other people wanting to use them in future too.Not good to be seen as taking advantage methinks.
But it has crossed my mind that once I cross the bridge from BT it is harder to go back.0 -
interesting ... i've just been on bt website to check price .. they're £15.99 ... and they have this ... it doesn't say what the "at risk" implies .
You can be confident with BT Total Broadband
Are you worried about your AOL UK broadband service?
In July, the boss of Carphone Warehouse said a proportion of 80,000 AOL UK customers “are likely to be at risk”.†
This is because Carphone Warehouse, which bought AOL UK in 2006, is in the process of moving AOL UK customers onto its network.
Could you be one of those customers at risk? If you are, you might consider this a good time to look at other options for your broadband service.0 -
CPW don't make much money when they resell BT's internet service as they are doing with non LLU customers, the risk I guess is that they will either bump up the price or tell you to go elsewhere. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Also possibly at risk because of the problems occurring during the migration process where people suddenly lost internet connection.0
