Will BT take anymore cash off me via Direct Debit?

Options
I have recently signed up to O2 from BT (30th Sept) and my activation is scheduled for the 9th Oct, however i am on a Monthly Payment Plan with BT and they normally take £40 out on the 17th of each month, so will BT take for what i have used up to the date of activation? Or is it wise to cancel my DD? Now that O2 are taking care of things??

Does the £40 include line rental? If so don't cancel your dd as you will end up paying the BT non dd charge.
  • Yes it does, £40 for Broadband, Line Rental and Calls. Will they carry on taking the £40 until i have paid up? As they bill you in advance?

Won't you still have ongoing line rental and calls to pay?
  • Just line rental, calls are now with Sky...But i wont have to pay £40 a month for Line Rental surely?

No - but you need to keep the dd going - or end up paying their non dd charge.

They should drop the monthly collection to a more relevant figure.

What is their non dd charge? If i keep paying my DD then i should only be paying £11 a month after my final bill? I hate being billed in advance, it confuses things.

£1.50 per month non-DD charge, was increased a year or so ago from £1, previously it was a £1 discount with an inflated line rental cost, now they reduced the line rental and detail the extra charge for non-DD.

You could switch from monthly payment plan, to whole bill monthly DD, therefore they will just take out each month what you have used - the line rental.

Note with calls now going via Sky you may have or soon will lose the ability to pass calls back over BT (via 1280) etc to avoid the Sky high prices Sky charge for non-inclusive calls. Thus meaning the free 1571 and Caller Display you can get with BT is lost as you need to make at least 2 calls per month with BT to keep those free.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
