People are so stupid, ill-educated and poorly informed. They read an article in a tabloid or on a forum, and think that must be right, anyone lost a penny in savings anywhere yet?
You really think UK banks are safer than others - gosh, really, NR, HBOS, B+B anyone...
As that post came after mine - were you addressing that to me???? I rather hope not as I was trying to make the opposite point....0 -

Not at all, just earlier posts in general, not yours!
I try to always quote if I'm referring to something in particular!0 -
You are a sheep of the highest order. No wonder his country is in the state it is in now with wimps like you.I've been trying to take my money out of Icesave, I just can't cope with the worry. The trouble is when I go to the Transfer Money page and try to transfer the total of my saving or an amount just less I get this message - "The transfer amount is invalid, please re-select a new transfer amount.
The minimum transfer amount is £1"
Now I'm even more worried.0 -

But isn't ING only covered under the passport scheme like IceSave, not directly under the UK FSCS scheme?
I dispute the use of the word "only" when talking about Icesave's compensation. Here what the Icelandic Financial Services Accosiation said to Martin on this topic (original article here):
“Icelandic banks pay into a fund which is set aside to be paid out for compensation should it be needed – the UK scheme doesn’t have this and could therefore technically take longer than the Icelandic scheme!”
Yes, if it was ever needed the UK FSCS would have to go round all the banks cap in hand asking for the money to repay savers, whereas the Icelandic banks have the money sitting around all ready to go.
Why people think this is somehow worse than the UK system is a mystery to me.
(I don't know about ING's setup though)0 -
So, ICESAVE. . . any advance on A. Don't panic, B. Don't panic?
Well since you didn't seem to like those answers that I gave, what about
A) Panic.
Panic.
Instead?
(Seems to be what 90%+ on these boards are doing anyway.)Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
So people.
As one of those people fortunate enough to possess a reasonable intellect (comma), let's set the record straight for everyone.
What is the most informed advice anyone can offer to help those people with:
A. Savings in ICESAVE under £35.
B. Savings in ICESAVE over £35.
OK, my three-penny worth....
A. Don't panic.... :T
B. Don't panic, but if you feel in-secure, then prune back to £35k and put the remainder into KE. :T
Hopefully the increase to £50k may make your original question a moot one? Or will you just re-phrase it with the new amount :rotfl:0 -
Where is this info advertised please ? I moved some money several months back when ING websaver was advertised as 6.5% till 1/10/08 then drops to 5% aer(as taken from website). So was thinking I probably need to move it now, but if it is 6.4% I will leave it there.
Take a look here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1131093
It's 6.6% AER. And applies to the web saver account, not the standard savings account. And you can now move money directly into web saver, without going through savings.0 -

Lunatic post.
People like you give this site a bad rep.
Panic ramping idiot.
My grammar looks OK there to me. The comma (not coma) and the full stop is in the right place. If you want to resort to grammar police tactics make sure you know what you're talking about. As to the rest, I will do what I see fit.0
