  • I am very suspicious of any e-mail that does not address me by name. The dodgy ones usually start Dear Member or Dear xxx user.I never go through the e-mail link and always go to the home page and go through that way..I am getting so many dodgy e-mails(paypal,ebay and about every high street bank going)

Thank you so much for all your input on this - I am not really sure why I was suspicious, just something made me stop and wonder. Fortunately I did not click on any links.

I just think that no matter what the reason I was contacted, I do believe that any company worth their salt should not be asking people to log back in to change their e-mail due to changes THEY are making to THEIR system.

That's what I think, its obvious that they're making a bit of a cockup. Its doesn't reassure people for future emails they send.

Did yours have your user name on ?, (Dear *****)
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Read in the Guardian today they have added video calling, has anyone seen this yet (I have not had a chance to download, as I'm still stuck at work). Also has anyone tried using it, good quality wise etc? Presently I don't have a web-cam, but would be intersted depending on the quality.

CIS - please refer back to my message #4 on this thread. I have detailed the whole e-mail which starts "Dear share.skype.com user" - even that was not personalised, even though they had my e-mail address to send it to, so should have had my name from the registration details.

Have now been on the Skype website by independent means (see below) rather than clicking onto any of the links from the e-mail, and it would appear that it was kosher after all. However, the way in which they addressed the e-mail does not exactly inspire confidence!
