Help with form 6.27...

Options
Hi all

I have come to the point at which I've lost control of my own financial situation and the CAB have advised bankruptcy :(

I'm self employed and my main source have income have decided to reduce the amount of work they give to me (from approx 25 hours a week to about 10), ironically, it's due to the credit crunch!!! I've taken on another job working in a hotel just to try and pay the bills, but I can no longer afford to service the debt I have built up over the last 2 years £30,000+ hence the CAB advising BR.

The CAB have been fantastic with advising me so far, and I'm going back to see them before I send in my forms so they can check I've filled them in correctly.

So, I was wondering if somebody could help me with some of the questions on the forms before I go back to the CAB...

1. The part that says "request the court that a bankruptcy order made against me as follows..."
Can anybody explain what I should fill in here? Or do I just need to highlight the section that says "I am unable to pay my debts"?

Thanks - form 6.28 questions may follow!!

    Its unable to pay bit.

However, the best thing to do is to ignore the hard copy forms that the CAB have given you and log on to the insolvency.gov.uk site. You can register and fill out the forms online. They are much easier to deal with, are in sections that you complete in any order you like, better info for help as you go along and you save and go back when you feel like it. It will print off everything in the right order/places.

I agree with skylight about the online forms they are really easy to get on with. And what I did that made it a lot easier for me was to do and Income and Expenditure, and list of creditors and the details in a spreadsheet, tweaked that until everything was correct than just used the spreadsheet as reference to fill in the relevant sections of the forms.

That really is so much easier - thanks.

A little confused over something though...
There is a list of CREDITORS and a list of BANKS AND CREDIT CARDS, but the latter has no facility to enter the amount owed...so do I need to add credit card companies in both sections?

    Thanks

Creditors is to whom you owe money to. Just because you have a credit card or a bank account, does not mean that you owe anything on it, but they need to know anyway so that everything gets frozen accordingly. This includes all accounts.

Every single debt you have goes into the creditors list and if there are duplicates in both lists then don't worry about it.

Yes you do. When you list your unsecured creditors and say a couple of those are cc, you just repeat the info in the credit card/bank card section. This has had many confused and some have even been told to go away and come back when they have filled it in. They do help at the court on the day but there are tat many people going bc lately they just do not have the time to help everyone.Dx

    Thanks again.

    Another question...
In the section that asks about employment, it doesn't allow me to select self-employed AND employed...any ideas on how to complete this part if I am both?

Select whichever is your main job. In the notes section at the end bit, then mention that you do both. You can discuss that with the OR when you have your interview.

Few quid a week? Wouldn't worry about it. Unless we are talking about large regular amounts online etc..

I actually worked it out to be about £18 per month - won about £100 over a year tho.
