Halifax charges on student / Current account

All students - Please dont use Halifax Student account - I will explain what they did to me!!
I had a student overdraft for £1500. Halifax withdrew my overdraft without any prior warning straight after my months wages had gone in! This has meant that I have missed a mortgage payment and behind with all my other bills.
There was no reason behind the withdrawal of the facility and they couldnt even be bothered to write back to my complaint which was made 2months ago.
I was told when I signed up for the account that I would have 12months after my degree to pay it off...obviously not.
I went into branch to ask why and to proove that I was a student but they were unable to reinstate with no reason offered.
They have now put me with a debt collection agency and have even withdrawn money out of my other halifax account - without permssion - to pay off some of the outstanding overdraft.
Im absolutely disgusted how they have treated me...I dont think this is part of the 'Treating customers fairly' manual!!0 -
Sounds like they treated you badly, but, out of interest, when did you finish as a student? and when did they remove the facility?
Because if it happened two or three months ago, then, the 12 month period would have been over for your halifax student current account.
Still, it sounds bad, then again, it is no surprise as Halifax have managed to mess up a savings account I opened and haven't replied either!
So I am considering removing my money and my accounts form them and going elsewhere. Probably won't make them lose any sleep, but, you want good customer service and those who are willing to help you out you stay clear of.0
