Freezer been switched off / door left open - will food be ok?

    Thanks for that. I've got two packs of chicken thighs and some salmon fillets - I'm thinking of taking them out to defrost tonight and cook with them tomorrow, just to be on the safe side - this is the longest evening, as tomorrow I will go to the gym after work and will try to stay out as late as possible - good excuse to get fit, lol!!!

  • I have lots of fresh meat that i buy from the reduced section and my freezer door wasn't shut properly and now its defrosted and i need some recipes so i can save the meat!

  • It hasn't broken down i don't think my Boyf shut the door properly, i have alot of meat i need to save do you have any recipes?

    If the meat is still frozen, can you put it in neighbours freezers?

    If not like has been asked what sort of meat is it?

    Leaving the freezer door open may still be covered by your contents insurance if you have accidental damage cover.

    For meat recipes look in the Complete Cooking Collection under meat.

    hiya,

    you poor thing!! what a nightmare.

    if you cant find any recipes you like on that thread i would cook as much of the meat as you can, then perhaps slice and freeze it to use in sandwiches/ salads etc. just remember that once you defrost and add it to a recipe you wont be able to freeze again.

    sorry i should have added that i meant once you have defrosted, cooked, then froze the cooked meat, that once you defrost the cooked meat you cant re-freeze it again

    You can as long as its cooked in between!

    Frozen mince can be frozen once its been made into a chilli etc

    hi, i agree if the meat is raw and defrosted cook it and then portion it at can then be refrooze. some ideas, cottage pie, chilli, spagbol, burgers, meatballs, curry, pies, cold meat for sarnies, roast tomorrow, lasagna, chunk season and cook for pizza toppings, kebabs, let me no if you need any recipes etc pm me. x
