I do but its a £50 excess that I just cant afford just nowPitlanepiglet wrote: »What's in the curry base emma? if it's tomatoes, spices etc. I'd just leave it, I can't see that there it is likely to be problematic.
Its the one from the takeaway book, cant remember whats in it exactly but I think it will be ok. From memory its just veg, water and spices ..............
Ok so after calming down and having a look I THINK all that needs immediate attention might be some fish and the pork mince. I dont have any burger rolls in but the mince can be used for lunch today. I'm a bit wary of fish - guessing its not a good idea to cook and refreeze it??
ETA - the fish is mostly defrosted (still a little icy down one side) but I'm thinking i might but it in the fridge and use it up tomorrow night - that should be fineEmma

            Hi elf,
I would do as others have suggested. Cook and re-freeze any raw meat that has softened. The likes of veg, bread etc I would just re-freeze as it is.
This thread has more advice:

I'll add your thread to it later to keep the replies together.

Cooking and refreezing the fish would be fine, but putting it in the fridge now and using tomorrow would be fine too. In either case if it has gone off you will know by the smell

Got up to find that DS had left freezer door open all night. Think it must have been open for 11 hours.
Meat, Fish and Veg are all still frozen. I`m pleased about this because I only bought beef and pork joints last week for Christmas.
Have 3 packs of Pork and Chestnut Stuffing which have started defrosting. Was thinking of cooking them and refreezing.
However I have read the label and it says do not reheat.
Does this mean that I can`t do this?
Thank you.0 -
            Morning guys,
I've just realised i unplugged the freezer last night to use the hand blender and forgot to plug it back in=1/2 defrosted food, now i'm going to defrost, cook & refreeze the easy things like sausages, bacon etc, but is there any way i salvage burgers? if i cook them off then what?! We can eat the battered fish for tea tonight but not both! Any recipes for using up leftover burgers?! Good job its the end of my food month not the begining or i'd have been in real trouble!
Thanks.x0 -
Not sure what sort of burgers they are but could you re-mould the meat into meatballs, mix with some breadcrumbs and herbs and bit of finely chopped onion. Cook them and then they're really easy to re-heat with pasta and tomato sauce/I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I'd pay good money to avoid food poisening!
Enough to replace the unfrozen food anyway.
Finances dictated? Or, the MS's inclination to avoid waste?....... Save the cost of the food eating hospital food for a week.0 -
wont the burgers keep in the fridge until tomorrows tea? I would say you are safe to keep things defrosted in the fridge for around 3 days surely?Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

It's very risky to cook and refreeze pork products that have been frozen already, I don't know why you're more concerned about the beefburgers?
Put the burgers in the fridge and cook them in gravy tomorrow night, they're lovely with a pile of mash and veg
