Hello,
I was just wondering on everyone's views for a holiday in 2009 with the current financial climate?
I am currently looking to go away next year, but with all the doom and gloom around about money, are you thinking of not having one, or having a cheap UK based holiday?
I look forward to hearing your responses
Monkie

Hi,
If you have the money and a reasonably secure job, then why not? Obviously if your circumstances are not so good you'd have to weigh up what your priorities are. I am lucky in that I am coping well even with the financial crisis and have got two big trips booked, one at the end of the month and one next Feb.
However, I have saved up a lot of cash which I haven't had to dip into too much to date.
What I wouldn't do is pay for a trip with money I don't have and get myself into debt for ther sake of a week or two away.

This post is the best and only relevant advice on the OP`s question

as long as you can roughly afford it (because whilst saving is good, you could always get hit by a bus) then go.
Holidays are a great way of getting away from it all. You learn new things, experience different cultures, and generally relax.
I've booked my holiday to the US with the famile next year.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
We're got our holiday book for February and can't wait. Its actually going to be our first big holiday in several years but we have been saving for quite a while so its well deserved.
As someone else says, if you can afford to, then theres no reason not to. And the dollar is still pretty good, so USA here we come.0 -
We booked our 'Summer' Holiday for September 09 in August. By booking early we get first choice of hotels and also can pay off little bits (£50 or £100) each month rather than paying in one big hit......0
