Had two failed attempts at logging on, only to find that I had two accounts missing on the list of accounts. I was just about to phone them when I thought I'd sign off then sign on again. Low and behold all the account are there.

    What's going on Nationwide!!!
  • I am sorry this wont appear to help those who are having problems, but it has been absolutely solid here for the last 3 days with about 4 log ins each day.

I hope it does not go down for me because I am doing a lot of transfers at present. It will be down to the branch if it does - so thanks for the warning to be prepared.

Well I haven't had sign on problems but yesterday when logged in one account was missing while the others were there.
I checked again today and was about to enquire about it and it magically re-appeared. I think they are having some sort of problems with their systems.

I had problems logging in to Nationwide several months ago.
I know I entered the correct details but after three failed attempt messages I was locked out.
When I was told it would take up to seven working days for me to receive new login details I was not best pleased.
I had around £250000.00 invested with them at that time.
Posted them a really angry registered letter that day, saying it just wasn't acceptable to be unable to access my money for two weeks and that I would have to move it.
Low and behold, new login details arrived in the post two days later! So they can perform faster when they need to.

Must say though, that that is the only time I've been unhappy with them. Been with them for some years and they've been very good.

Hi guys n gals. Thanks so much for your interest and responses. Whilst it's nice to get posts that concur with one's own experience (I'm not going mad!), those posting no perceived problems are just as important: it tells one that something special must be going on.

And I reckon that is the case.

Over the course of 5 phone calls and about 30 attempted logins, some successful, some unsuccessful, I finally convinced Nationwide's customer services to allow me to talk to technical, and after a half hour conversation, the very helpful member of staff revealed that other customers had reported similar issues AND most importantly, that these other customers shared similar account traits.

The problem appears to occur when a customer has a large amount accounts. Judging from my own experience, the most likely cause of this is the opening of many e-bonds (in my case >25).

The current thinking is that the server times out before all the accounts have loaded, resulting in some malfunction. I can see how this explains some of the behaviour if not all of it. It also might explain behaviour noted by bluesue and JohnFB :

... and the current "fix" I have been offered is kinda revealed by evenasus:

I'm really not sure why this should work. Maybe something to do with a re-indexing of the records. Who knows. I'll give it a go and let you all know.

    Thanks agains.

Don't know if this is an ongoing problem but I now can't access my online account. keeps saying incorrect details please try again. I know I have entered them correctly as I access the account most days.......very strange.

I had this problem a few months ago, and it turned out that it was because an e-bond had recently matured, that it stopped me getting access. After a few days, it righted itself. Other e-bonds matured after that, and I had exactly the same problem. Maybe that's still causing problems?
