Hi,
I've posted this on the Broadband thread but wonder if it might be better with a thread of it's own.
I'm currently on dial up with tiscali pay as you go. I've also got tiscali 8am - 6pm at home through my employers as i work from home. Never had any problems with tiscali although if I had I'm not sure what their customer service would have been like and I realise that there's probably less chance of needing customer services on dial up.
I'm now using the internet quite a lot in the evenings and weekends and would like to switch to broadband. I'm also using it during the week during the day for 1 or 2 days.
I think I'll only need it for surfing and e-mail and for my son to occassionally play games, so I think I'll only need something fairly basic?
I've had a look on Uswitch who recommend Toucan 1mb with their calls package for £13.99 but after looking at this thread I think I should avoid them.
The next cheapest is Virgin 560k who are £14.99 per month with no yearly contract.
What would your advice be?

Try https://www.metronet.co.uk, who are a best buy in WHICH? this month. Also, my son has used them for a couple of years and swears by them."Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0

Thanks for that.
It looks like you pay £11.75 minimum charge per month with metronet and then extra for any use above 400mb.
So based on my use above - how many mb am I likely to use?0 -
The charges only mount up if you download lots of software. For the sort of usage you envisage, the minimum is likely to be appropriate."Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0

The only problem here is that they have been taken over by Plusnet. Bear in mind that Plusnet have had their problems this year or so and there would likely be problems whilst they absorb Metronet. I had a good 1 1/2 years on MN and have just moved to Newnet because of the takeover, their plans for the near future were not to reassuring to me.crossleydd42 wrote:Try https://www.metronet.co.uk, who are a best buy in WHICH? this month. Surely the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I would never change as you have until I could see that things were no longer acceptable."Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0
