Yes.
This is the official final version of 1.5. It was expected today but it hasn't come up on official Firefox site yet (Rarely does appear there first)0 -
Just upgraded and it seems a bit quicker than 1.07, no British English version yet.
The themes/extentions compatability routine hung but it was easy enough to update them from within the programme.
PS MSE is on a right go slow this morning. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

any ideas.
Firefox, with regards to rendering tables, css etc... it's not the fastest. IE is generally about the same, if not slightly faster. Firefox takes longer to load too, from both a cold start and once in memory. This doesn't make it a bad browser (given the better security, standards support etc...), as it's all very fractional. Having said that, it can be quite a memory hog.
I personally only use Firefox for development these days as it has a number of great extensions.
The fastest and lighest browser about by far is Opera. It took me a while to adapt, but I find it great. There are a few things (or extensions) from Firefox I miss but I get by, and I'm sure Opera has the equivalent plugin (I've yet to look). It's also still got a couple of bugs the odd developer may find annoying, but on the whole it's a very good browser. Most noticeable, it uses less memory, and truly takes advantage of tabs in terms of performance/memory (it was the first browser to implement tabs)."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
RE references to Mr. Skint - can I just say that I have been helped by him on several occasions and am very appreciative ofthat.0

I've just wasted the last 2 hours trying to get version 1.5 to work properly. No matter what I did, I could not get it to download/install any plugins, or open .wmv and .mpg in WMP.
Each time I tried to open a media file in WMP, I ticked the download box to associate this file type with Media Player, but it wouldn't 'stick'. Every time I tried another .mpg or .wmp file it would ask me again. I tried to download a plugin to associate these file types with WMP, but nothing I could do by changing settings would let me download/install the plugin.
I'm a big fan of Firefox. I've been using it since it first came out and I've never come accross this sort of problem before. A quick scan of my system found the installer for my previous version (luckily enough). I've had to go back to this (and all is fine now).
I think I will give this version a a bit of time out 'in the wild' before I try it again. I had a look at the mozilla forums and I see a few problems reported with version 1.5. These will hopefully be sorted out soon, and I will give it another go hopefully when some of the bugs are sorted. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
