broadband package

help
I have sky+ including 6 mixers and sky sports paying £50 amonth
and I have bt option 3 I think paying £22 amonth we have free phone calls to landlines at evenings and weekends and line rental at £10 amonth
my phone bills are in the region of £300 a quarter including the broadband thing. phone calls are mainly to mobiles??????????? due to having a teenage son.
How can I save money???????????????????
I am looking at changing my broadband package and saw in the Skymag an offer for £5 amonth for broadband and phone calls but when I phoned them they could only offer it at £17 a month and I think it was limited useage due to sky internet not in my area I think that was what they said?? she was just giving me the hard sell and I just put the phone down after a while incase I was agreeing to something I didnt want.
Can anyone out there help me
What is the cheapest way to do it. do I go for sky or do I stay separete

I imagine your cheapest option would be to explain to your son the cost of his calls, and maybe hide the phone from him! :)
people living in certain areas are able to get the free/£5 sky broadband, sadly neither you nor I are eligible.
enter your postcode into the samknows exchange search, see which llu operators are available, perhaps you are lucky enough to have be/o2 at your exchange.
another option is, going on the samknows info, if talktalk have enabled the exchange they can provide cheap broadband, though with the limits shaping and caps its not a choice I'd make, and your son would hate it, but its his fault anyway, so ignore his wishes.. :)

I have just checked using my postcode and it states only BT
so do you think to change to sky broadband and phone calls is a bad ideal
    thanks for your help

i think the telephones board may be a better place to ask this, the £17 sky broadband has, i believe, a 40Gb/month limit which is not rigidly enforced, but your phone bills are the real problem, £20 or so a month for broadband is a drop in the ocean compared with £100/month phone bills, both my wife and I have contract mobiles with 500 mins/month with 3, our kids know to use our phones for all calls, never the landline, and our bills are (reasonably) low

i would recommend tiscali, they have a package at £19.99 a month including line rental and anytime talk to national and local nos, there is a 6p connection fee for any other calls. been with them for 2 years now. I wouldnt recommend phoning their call centre as I dont think much of it, you can mail them with any problems.

I think they have a one off connection fee of £30 log on to their web site and call them. Try and call them at weekends as its a lot cheaper. the line rental is included and its nothing to do with BT, its their own phone line. If you have any probs related to telephone line you contact tiscali and they send BT to fix it.

Also if you do want to call them dont forget to double check that the £19.99 includes VAT as the VAT is a lot to add on!

I have had probs in the past with time but for a long time now everything has been good, let me know how you get on and good luck!

just get mobile barring on your land line that will stop the little sod, thats what we did when the step kids were at home, had a pin number to turn it on and off. so wasnt a big problem if you need to call a mobile.
"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
