    Shlitz,

I think we all know now that these phone calls exist.

I think what people want to know is - has anybody actually pressed '9'?

You say that people are redirected to a sales person Have you actually had first hand experience of this by pressing '9' yourself ?

yes on the call i recieved it was a free trip to florida or something to that effect. i pressed "9" or whatever i was instructed then a "ring ring" and some lady with an american accent was there with her pitch of buy this or that and recieve so and so.

this is my experience. other results may be possible but this is what i got. i did not incur any charges for the call that i noticed.

end of the day its all just annoying so charge no charge just hang up. and forget about it..... unless your bored as i was and want to see what the result would be.

    Hi

My daughter did take one of these calls once. I checked for strange numbers on my next Bill and it wasnt hundreds of pounds, more live a fiver, still frustrating though.

As a follow up, does anyone know the deal with the calls Ive been getting lately, the ones that go like 'you have been selected in our prize draw and have definately won a car, cash or holiday'.

Id just like to know what the scam is, my family are all briefed never to take these calls now. Just curious here.........

They have a slightly different approach - ie they give an address to write to (sorry, never bothered to write it down) which is initially reassuring as you might think, "ah well, only postage to pay". But they go on to say that as the closing date is very close, it would be better to ring 090......

We had one of those calls about half an hour ago. My teenage daughter answered and stood listening to it for a while before telling me that it sounded American and like a recorded message. When I listened to it I heard "for more information, press 9" so I hung up immediately.
