Thanks for all the advice. I can see that the one mentioned by Barneysmom is actually a Fogarty duvet, so I may be going for that one.0

and next time you get a new bed go Kingsize. So much more room it really does make a difference. We bought it when DD was a baby as she used to like (and we liked her to come) in for a snuggle in the morning.
Ooh Poppy, that would be luxury. I'm not sure we could fit a kingsize bed in our bedroom. Mind you we could jig the furniture around.
I'll just make do with the kingsize duvet for now. Going to have a look at some today.

I've always had the quilt a size bigger than the bed too.
I've always had high beds so they are better bigger.
But I'm in a superking bed now, so can't go one bigger:rolleyes: :rotfl:
You can get an Emperor size bed & linen, although it's not always easy to find the bedlinen. The White Company does them in this size & duvets too.
Have just taken the duvet measurements from their website (W x L)
Superking is 260cm x 220cm
Emperor is 290cm x 235cm
Bed measurements are
Superking 180cm x 200cm
Emperor 200cm x 200cm0 -
I bought my duvet from debanams about 15 years ago and even then it cost a lot of money. It is in two parts and one of the parts is down and the rest is fibre.
I do not like it as every day the press studs keep separating. Also the down part tends to clump to one area of the douvet leaving the douvet 80% translucent.
Ikea make longer beds and longer douvetsGOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.

we are after new duvet for the winter.
the one we have at the moment is a kingsize the wife's side is a 4.5tog
and the other half a 9.5.tog this was bought from matalan 2/3 years ago
no one on the thread has mentioned this type of duvet this is a very good idea
could do with a 9.5/13 tog for winter0 -
Just to reprise this for a mo.... would anyone care to comment about relative merits about duck vs goose feather products?
Is one better than the other for some reason?0 -
Depends if you have any allergies

As I understand it - and I may be wrong  - goose down is warmer, for the same weight. So if you want a "warm" quilt, the duck one will be heavier than the goose one .....
Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
