I got mine from the Debenhams clearance - like this

    It's ace, I love it!
Dunelm is ok, they do several types/budgets.

Oh and there's this one, too:

    http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_65665_619409_-1

Would anyone have any comment to offer on which they think might be the better deal?

Personally I think Debenhams own make pillows and bedding is over priced and not brill quality. I bought 2 of their extra full pillows in their sale for £17.50 (reduced from £35). When I opened them at home the covering quality was cheap and nasty and the corners of the pillows completely empty. I took them back (even though pillows are not returnable) as they were not as described. Sales assistant agreed with me they were rubbish and I bought two Dorma pillows instead. Much better quality cover and quite plump (I wish I could have feather pillows but OH allergic as non feather ones don't last long :( )

I wasn't very pleased with a quilt I bought in Debenhams sale either. Didn't think it was a £60 quilt (even though I only paid £17 in sale).

Yes, this is exactly the thing we've been thinking of doing - using a king size duvet on a standard double bed. Have you had any touble with the extra length which comes with the extra width?

We had a double bed when first married but always a kingsize quilt. It doesn't hang on floor as beds are quite high if they have drawers. We bought a Kingsize bed 14 years ago and I forgot I meant to get a Superking quilt when I last bought as the extra width on the bed would have been good.

Never found extra length to be a problem. We have a bed with a wooden footboard. When in the bed it's good to have extra to snuggle into.

Just wanted to add that we swapped from a normal double duvet to a kingsize last year . It was quite expensive getting new quilt covers but haven't regretted it. So much nicer having some spare quilt to tuck in at the edges on chilly nights.

Thanks that's a great idea. Never thought of it! We're ready for a new duvet and I will definately be getting a king size for our double bed. I love to be snuggly warm.

I've always had the quilt a size bigger than the bed too.
I've always had high beds so they are better bigger.

But I'm in a superking bed now, so can't go one bigger:rolleyes: :rotfl:

    I've just found this:

    http://www.dunelm-mill.com/pages/product/product.asp?prod=472B&ctgry=White%20Goose&cookie%5Ftest=1

Any comments? I don't know this Dunelm outfit and have no idea if the stuff they sell is good quality.

they do have some good quality stuff at good prices - some tat too but the products you are looking at should all be good quality. I have looked at their duvets before but not the feather ones, sorry :(

If you are treating yourself dont forget to get some good linen to go with it - 400 thread count cotton is the best thing ever almost :Dhttp://www.dunelm-mill.com/range/Pima%20Jacquard//1

I got my quilt from M&S earlier this year - from their basics range which actually felt better than some of the more expensive ones - it's really warm and is still plump and has retained its shape.

They do all sizes and tog ratings and you could do as someone earler suggested and make your own "all seasons" duvet with a bit of velcro or some buttons and loops.

I'd definately recommend the M&S cheap and cheerful range - the pillows are great as well.

    Hope this helps.

and next time you get a new bed go Kingsize. So much more room it really does make a difference. We bought it when DD was a baby as she used to like (and we liked her to come) in for a snuggle in the morning.
