Ruined Surprise

Yes I know this is a little petty, but it is a vent and may help warn some parents coming up to christmas to not let their children see them taking delivery lol.

Ordered an AT TE star wars thing from toys r us, big surprise for my sons birthday, he didn't even really ask for it because he told me it was too expensive. I couldn't wait to see his face when he opened it next week! Alas, that won't happen as it was sent by Toys R Us in a massive box that said TOY in big letters across it and on all 4 sides said 'SW clone wars AT TE'... now my son can read well and is not stupid so ... surprise ruined. (I didn't have a chance of hiding it)

yes its a petty vent, but it quite annoyed me.

I know exactly how you feel, a couple of years ago i ordered a bike for DD christmas present from toys r us, when I ordered i asked for a morning delivery as DD would be at school and it would give me chance to check the bike and then put it away out of sight, a morning delivery was agreed.

DD came walking down the path at 3.30pm just as the delivery driver pulled up, I went running outside thinking that i could put "A BOX" straight into the garage without DD seeing it......Boy i was wrong! the bike was off the van before i could get there and already made up and unboxed, Christmas present suprise ruined.. I was fuming!!
  • I know what you mean.

I asked my girlfriend to buy me something special for my birthday. My surprise was ruined because, she brought me a car and the ribbon on the roof was on it when the main dealer dropped it off onto the parking bay. Anyway, porking bay is what...I digress.
  • Also,

My nephew wanted a football, along with loads of other presents for his birthday. Anyway, I brought one and asked the sales clerk to wrap it up and put it in a bag for me. Imagine my horror when I looked into the bag and saw a round something with wrapping round it.

Good job i looked into the bag otherwise who knows what would of happened.

Anyway, at least my postcount has gone up, unintentionally....unlike the OPs main reason...llol.....

he he..Reminds me of a few times when my kids were small, frantically trying to do hand signals and gesticulating that checkout staff should put an item straight into a bag while I distracted my kids-It never worked-they just looked at me blankly..

You could get a worse surprise - Jamie Oliver could turn up at your house telling you you've been cooking crap all your life..

  • Toys R Us did it to me too, with my little boys 'Little Tikes Police Car' - surprise ruined, 3 months before Christmas :(

Then I also ordered a small 'Noddy Car' which came in really small box - about 12 inches, and they sent the biggest box you have ever seen, filled with those air pockets!
    Moving on up :o SPC #382 ~ £40 banked

  • Surely it's not just me that finds it odd that anyone would expect Toys R Us to deliver goods in a plain brown wrapper as if it was sex toys they were delivering? What are you people buying from Toys R Us? :D

worth sending an email to toysrus, for them it's free advertising but as you say for you it spoilt a surprise. However I wish you luck, the last time I had a problem with toysrus I spoke to the customer service manager, she was the most awful person I have ever come across, her director was no better.

At least in a brown box you can hide the sex toys from OH - surprise intact!! (especially when he sees the size of some of these things......... he he he he.....!)

Problem is, places like ToyRus do not pay extra for packaging, so its how it arrives from China/Hong Kong etc and sent straight out with a label slapped on it. But email them to complain anyway. Its not like the stuff is cheap!

You could be a mean Mum and send it back. He will be surprised then......
