I have just had the estate agent on phone - they are coming to view THIS house next Tuesday on behalf of the owners for the purposes of LETTING! Can you believe that?!!
Anyone want to rent my current house?
It has a fab garden that you could do a lot with! :rotfl:
:rotfl: :rotfl:
Make sure you mention the extortionate heating bills, the damp, the dodgy electric and the unregistered landlord status in casual conversation Nyk;)0 -
Sorry to jump in on your thread but just to let you know that Robert Llewellyn is going to be on Loose Women soon to talk about how he didn't buy anything for a year. Might be interesting to some of you.
Who?:rotfl: I had to google the name to find out who he was, sorry, I'm not much of a telly buff, but I did recognise the square headed guy out of Red Dwarf. Hmm... HE never bought anything for a year? I wonder what denotes 'anything'?Mr Llewellyn, would you care to elaborate prior to the show being broadcast?

I have recorded the programme so as soon as I get a chance to watch it I will try and do a quick report on what he said.Namaste DeeDee x0

Here's an article about it. It would seem that it's okay if his wife buys stuff on his behalf, unless he didn't eat anything in the restaurant? Not that I'm knocking what he's trying to do. Thanks Deedee, would be interesting to know what he said.
I'm currently trying to get an accurate amount for my qualifying benefits for the last financial year (complicated by some being mixed in together when they shouldn't be, noone knows why ) and am permanently on hold on an 0845 number I can't get an alternative for  I've given up but need the figures to get my WTC, hmpf! The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Oh nyk no wonder we have the same birthday :rotfl:
We are both rather reluctant to part with cash unless it's an absolute dire necessity.
But we will survive the credit crunch :T0 -
That's what I thought Janey but it was me skimreading too fast
He did that in his youth, this time he's not buying anything it would seem.
We laugh in the face of the credit crunch :rotfl:The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Remember about a week or so ago I said I'd won a charity auction for 'Riverdance, the new show' on video (a gift for my gran, who hates DVDs)? It has just arrived along with my 'free gift' of 2 bars of chocolate, which is brilliant :T , but I'm not happy!
The 2nd Class postage stamp on the package says £2.08 and I only paid £2.05 in total. I'm a little bit confused - should I email the seller and ask if they want me to send more money or should I assume they are posting from a works or business expenses postal account and don't realise they are undercharging on P&P?
Help...

Bails, good luck with the figures for WTC, pity you couldn't find an alternative telephone number, though. As for Mr Llewellyn not 'BUYING' anything, maybe he's going to beg, steal and borrow then if all else fails, leave it up to his wife to solve the problem. I mean, what do married men buy anyway, other than self-indulgencies and the occasional gift? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: (Scuttles off to hide from the resulting onslaught from any 'frugal men', despite that being a slight contradiction in terms. :rotfl: )
Back again - I HAD to come back, I've just read the news about the 5.2% inflation, which means that very few of the banks or building societies are paying out enough interest to beat that (after tax). Does this mean that we'd be better stockpiling MASSIVE amounts of longlife goods because if we're saving for them, over time we won't be able to afford to buy them? Oh dear, oh my! What has happened to society?! Saving for a rainy day could become obsolete and we'll all be driven to growing our own food, recycling hand me downs and living a 'hand to mouth' existence, counting every penny spent. Credit and debt will be something only the mega rich can afford. Come to think of it, we've almost come full circle! Does that mean there's been a revolution? :rotfl:I reserve the right not to spend.

Hi all,
I was out for a 'proper' dinner last night, not frankie and benny's. Very frugal as my brother paid for it:p . My mum was telling him about my new trick I had picked up from this site, emptying 10p value shower gel into the hand pump dispensers.
He thinks I am going too far. I don't, it does the same job as the £1 does. He said, your pennypinching is going too far now, it's not that bad, is it? He then started to go on about people switching everything off, he says it saves about £20 a year, so what?? Does anyone have solid proof so that I can counteract his argument??
My brother is a total spendthrift and lives for the day. He is very generous and likes the best of everything. So do I, but I've started to think about later on in life, he'll never change.
It's funny how we are all different. He would never dream of looking at reduced stuff, going to sales, making do etc, wheras, I have always skirted about being frugal/careful but never quite managed to go the whole road with it. Well, I will now, when I have all this fantastic information/help/encouragement to hand.
Speak later,
SL x0
